Carlos Mendoza issues a statement following his departure from the Mets:

"I would like to thank Steve and Alex Cohen. They are tremendous owners who care deeply about their people, their families, and the entire organization. I am grateful for the opportunity they gave me to lead this team.

I also want to thank David Stearns for giving me the chance to manage at the major league level. It was a privilege to work alongside him every day, and I greatly appreciated his support, trust, and partnership.

Thank you to everyone throughout the Mets organization, especially our coaches, staff, and players.

The relationships we built and the memories we created will stay with me forever. I will never forget our special postseason run in 2024 and the resilience, commitment, and passion that group showed every day.

Finally, thank you to the fans. Your energy, loyalty, and unwavering support made it an honor to wear the Mets uniform and represent this organization.

I’m sorry I couldn’t bring a championship to Queens.

New York will always hold a special place in my heart.

I leave with tremendous gratitude, pride in what we accomplished together, and confidence that the future of this organization is bright.

Wild day.

Had to leave the game unexpectedly after getting a call that my son had taken a scary fall and was headed to the hospital. Thankfully, after a very long few hours, he got the all clear and is doing well. Tough kid.

The first thing he asked me when I walked into the ER:

“Did the Mets win?”

Saying “yes” didn’t really feel like I was doing it justice.

Sorry I disappeared and missed the walk-off interview. Pretty good reason, I’d say.

Anyway, what a win. What a homestand. Season back on.

Carlos Mendoza es un tipo muy bien preparado, razonable y súper ecuánime. Entiende el juego como pocos. Es un gran manager. El equipo no ha rendido. Entiendo que el está claro con la situación. ¿Que más puede hacer que seguir haciendo su trabajo? Opino lo mismo de Alex Cora y de Rob Thompson. Es jodido estar en esa situación con súper estrellas con diferentes egos. Manejar a esos atletas en equipo es muy cuesta arriba. Pero el fanático espera resultados. Espero que no corra con la misma suerte de los otros dos mencionados y que en la oficina exista la concordancia y comprensión de admitir que no siempre es la
culpa de los managers. Cora en particular es una de las personas mejores preparadas en el béisbol que yo haya conocido, Boston lo sabe, pero no tiene tuvo opción que despedirlo. Estoy seguro que pronto tendrá ofertas de trabajo.

En cuanto a “Mendy”, hermano, siga haciendo lo suyo, los resultados llegarán , aunque no se cumplan los objetivos.

Ayer por fin los Mets rompieron la racha de 12 derrotas consecutivas, regresó Juan Soto, salió Lindor lesionado y Bichette jugó como shortstop, hubo sonrisas, caras de alivio, aún hay que remar contra corriente pero parece que hay una luz al final del túnel
