The Wizard of Oz: A Parable of Central Banking
L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel, and the 1939 MGM film, is a coded critique of the monetary system. The title itself is the key: the Wizard of Oz is the Wizard of Ounces — the troy ounce, the unit in which gold and silver are priced. He is a banker, and his power is the power of money.
The Emerald City runs on greenbacks, and the Wizard’s authority is pure theater — smoke, mirrors, and a booming voice behind a curtain. Pull the curtain back and there’s no wizard at all, just an ordinary man with a machine. That’s the central bank: an institution whose power rests on belief, not substance.
The three companions are the people the system has hollowed out. The Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion already possess brains, hearts, and courage — but the Wizard hands them certificates instead of the real thing. Diplomas, medals, honors. Paper substitutes for substance, the way fiat currency substitutes for gold.
And the yellow brick road is the path of gold itself, leading everyone toward the city where the money lives. Dorothy’s journey home is the journey of ordinary people trying to escape a system that profits from keeping them lost.
The shoes are the strongest piece of evidence. In Baum’s 1900 book, Dorothy’s magic shoes are silver — the metal of the free-silver movement, the cause William Jennings Bryan championed with his “Cross of Gold” speech in 1896. Baum backed Bryan, and the silver shoes were his nod to that fight.
MGM changed them to ruby in 1939, and the reason was purely commercial: Technicolor was brand new, and ruby red would pop on screen. But the change quietly erased the monetary symbolism — the silver shoes that could carry Dorothy home became just a pretty visual.
So the film itself performed the same trick the Wizard does: it took something real and valuable and swapped it for something that only looks better.

The cockpit door system needs a two-tier redesign. Give the captain, first officer, and purser each a personal code that opens the door immediately — no delay, no pilot veto. Everyone else keeps the existing 30-second keypad code with the pilot deny.
This stops the lone-wolf case that killed 150 on Germanwings and nearly did again on FZ1073, where a stabbed captain had to release the door himself. A lone attacker can’t be all three code holders, and a coerced crew member can’t either. The only remaining failure is a gun on one of the three — the same failure the current system already has. No lock solves coercion; this one just stops the threats that actually happen.

The last time I signed up for medical insurance for a new job in California, the doctor who was assigned to me did not even exist. Fuck Blue Cross! After their fraud, it takes months to get a doctor — total ripoff. I refuse any doctor that did not graduate and do their residency in America. You cannot touch me. I worked at research hospital while attending Purdue. Also, I have never taken any vaccine since 1970s, flu shot, or on any medication. Examples: What is a rhombus fixture? Blood clot. Explain the Zernike monominals? You want to touch my eyes? I've walked out several times. Do not put up with these rote-memory monkeys. The entire system is a joke. Once I detect their BS, I become a complete smartass, and they deserve it.

Harpo — Harpocrates — is the Greek name for Horus the Child — the infant form of the Egyptian god Horus, son of Isis and Osiris. I was born overseas to parents who were both born in America. My birth certificate is through the State Department and my SS# first three numbers are the state we moved to at that time. I nor Barry can be President of the United States. Barry was born in Indonesia, and should have a SS# with the first three numbers of Hawaii—575 and 576. This SS# standard was not abandoned until June 2011.

The Usual Suspects is a con movie about a con man. Kevin Spacey plays Verbal Kint, and I read him as a Jewish gangster — KM. Pete Postlethwaite plays Kobayashi, Söze’s right-hand man, and I hear an Irish accent in him — an ex-IRA arms dealer type. And in the uncut version there’s a child crying behind the porthole on the boat. Draw your own conclusions.
