"Video Killed the Radio Star" was the debut single from The Buggles' 1979 album The Age of Plastic. The song reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart, #1 in Australia, #1 in Japan, #16 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and became historically significant as the first music video ever aired on MTV, when the channel launched on August 1, 1981.

The video also features a young Hans Zimmer on keyboards, years before he became one of Hollywood's most acclaimed film composers.

"Just Like Heaven" is from The Cure's 1987 album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. The dreamy, upbeat track became the band's first Top 40 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #40, while reaching #29 on the UK Singles Chart, #14 in Ireland, and #8 in New Zealand.

Robert Smith wrote the lyrics as a tribute to his future wife, Mary Poole, inspired by a romantic trip they took together.

“She Drives Me Crazy” was a massive 1989 hit from Fine Young Cannibals’ album The Raw & the Cooked. The funky, upbeat track is instantly recognizable for its distinctive horn riff, Roland Gift’s cool vocals, and its unusual snare sound created by producer David Z with a heavily treated drum sample that gave the song its sharp, metallic punch.

It topped the Billboard Hot 100 and helped the band cross over from alternative to mainstream pop success in the late ’80s.

🇵🇪 En 1985 el Congreso peruano declaró de necesidad pública construir un buque escuela a vela. Lo aprobaron. Y lo olvidaron por 27 años. Estos son algunos datos que tal vez no sabías del BAP Unión:

· Lo construyeron íntegramente en los astilleros del SIMA Perú en el Callao. Con manos peruanas. Sin depender de nadie.

· Su nombre honra a la corbeta Unión de 1865, comandada por Miguel Grau en la Guerra del Pacífico.

· El mascarón de proa lleva la imagen del Inca Túpac Yupanqui, el gran explorador del Pacífico, coronado por el sol del Perú.

· Su lema en latín: “Cudendum Character Nautarum.” Forjando el carácter del marino.

· 115 metros de eslora. Cuatro mástiles. 3,500 m² de velamen. El buque escuela más grande de América y segundo del mundo. Solo lo supera el STS Sedov ruso.

· Costó entre 60 y 70 millones de dólares. Tardaron 27 años en aprobarlo. Lo construyeron en tres.

· Navegó 317 días consecutivos dando la vuelta al mundo. Cinco continentes. 15 países. Sin perder un solo día de instrucción naval.

· Ganó la Boston Teapot, premio náutico internacional al velero que navega la mayor distancia a vela en 124 horas consecutivas.

· En Málaga y Vigo, los monumentos más emblemáticos de las ciudades se iluminaron de rojo y blanco en su honor.

· Durante sus escalas ilumina sus mástiles con los colores de la bandera peruana.

· El 4 de julio de 2026 desfiló por el río Hudson frente a la Estatua de la Libertad en el SAIL 250, el encuentro náutico más importante del mundo, convocado para celebrar los 250 años de la independencia de Estados Unidos. Fue uno de los 43 grandes veleros de 20 naciones invitados. Más de 6 millones de personas lo vieron pasar.

· Durante el discurso oficial del Vicepresidente JD Vance, el BAP Unión navegaba en el escenario principal como representante del Perú ante el mundo.
