Educator. Future Leader.
"Technology will not replace teachers but technology in the hands of greater teachers can be transformational" - George Couros
The use of technology can adres both the issue of weak content knowledge as well as that of mother tongue education as identified in this article by Dr Ramphele. It could also impact the fifth issue of community involvement and development. #FutureTrends

@An3sVel Alternative and resourceful! This sounds great but I cannot imagine doing this in a class of 45 grade 1's. Even when you go outside for more space it sounds like a logistical and emotional nightmare to handle alone.
Are we using the lack of devices or infrastructure as an excuse? To learn the basics of coding doesn't require fancy equipment! And once the basics are there learning different languages are not that hard. #FutureTrends
Technology in education will be unavoidable. I predict that we will leave many pupils behind in the current SA context. Leadership needs to ensure that there is the accountability for all stakeholders. We are literally all in this together. #futuretrends
@Sarah_Hassain_ That SA's struggle. At the same time youvhear of funds being allocated and multimillion rands classrooms that were never built. Accountability is lacking for sure. #futuretrends
@John12659214 Some schools have considered taking homework away totally. Homework should be reasonable, but a lot use it as a chance to catch up to the curriculum. #futuretrends
A counterpoint to online education. Self-study through video is not enough. It would require hybrid learning but it would require more parent/ guardian involvement.

Covid has proven that online schooling is as valid as brick-and-mortar schools. eLearning is projected to increase as more and more parents/guardians are considering it as an viable option. #FutureTrends

@Sarah_Hassain_@YassimKat Love it! It's like the best of both worlds. Old and new. I think this is the way. Just depends on the school. Difficult in schools with overcrowding where 3 or 4 pupils share a desk meant for 2. #futuretrends
eLearning is projected to increase. More and more parents/guardians view it as a valid alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar schools.

Did you know that 60% of Africa’s population, is under the age of 25? Read the article. Talks about a conference where one of the goals is to improve digital education in Africa.

Future-fit leaders is about understanding the importance of organisational culture. Schools to be adaptable and agile to digital transformation, strategies alone cannot yield the results, however, educational leaders should also consider organisational culture. #FutureTrends
@JosephKgodiso I like it too, but the concern then is will the technology be secure enough to ensure that the panels will not be stolen. I have heard countless stories of schools being broken into and projectors and computers being stolen. #futuretrends
Renewable and independent energy seems to be a long term solution. Imagine if schools had solar panels. However, the installation cost would be immense. Are there other more afforable ways?#futuretrends#leadership
