This is an account for students in Rockwall who would like to support the #NationalSchoolWalkout on April 20th at 10 am to protest gun violence. More details to come:)
One year ago 10 people lost their lives. We continue to remember the lives lost in the Santa Fe High School mass shooting and all of those whose lives have been changed forever.
It's been 20 years since #Columbine
On that day 12 students and 1 teacher were killed, leaving dozens of others injured. Although great progress has been made since then, we remember the survivors and the victims as we continure to fight for the kind of America they deserved.
On February 14th, 2018 the Parkland community lost 17 lives in a tragic and preventable act of gun violence. Everything we have done and everything we will do is for them. #MSDStrong
As we approach a difficult day for our state, let this week of orange serve as a token of hope & a pledge that the 17 Parkland victims will not be forgotten. That no victim of gun violence will be forgotten. And to work together to address the threat of gun violence everywhere.
“Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom. Of course the task will not be easy. But not to do this would be a crime against humanity, against which I ask all humanity now to rise up.” Nelson Mandela #MandelaDay2018
activism and patriotism are not opposites. if anything, to be an activist is to be a patriot. happy 4th everyone. remember that our country isn’t perfect yet, and that we have to keep fighting to get it that way.
I can’t get the sounds of the crying babies out of my mind. Our children are not more worthy than the children of these mothers who crossed the border. They sacrificed so much to bring their children to safety. We would do the same to see our children survive and thrive.
Our young leader's meeting to discuss future plans for Students Demand Action in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Big thanks to @NathanForTexas for providing the forum! DM if you're interested in joining
We may say prayers when we are trying to solve the problems we face, but it is up to us to put an end to violence and bring about peace. Creating peace is our responsibility. To pray for peace while still engaging in the causes that give rise to violence is contradictory.
Two years ago we lost 49 beautiful people and 53 more were injured because an unstable person had access to a fatal weapon. As we honor and remember the victims, we must continue our drive for action and reform. ❤️🏳️🌈 #PulseNightclub
In case you missed it: Students in Texas sent this letter to Governor Abbott. It appeared yesterday as a full page ad in the Houston Chronicle. Paige, Marcel, Madie, Sophie, Azhalia, and all the others... I’m so proud of you for standing up for what you believe in.
