Twelve years ago, on this date, as I sailed in to Mumbai I saw three helicopters give us a fly past.

One of them had the President of India onboard.

When I put the boat alongside the Gateway of India and marched up its steps, Dr Pranab Mukherjee was waiting for me.

I saluted and made report - “Sir, single handed, non stop circumnavigation is complete”.

He saluted me back and welcome me on land on behalf of 1.3 billion people of India.

I remember ending my speech that day with a question to the Hon’ble President

“In the end, all I want to ask is “Sir, can I go for one more round, please.””
