100% agreed. This is one of the strengths of families in business. They know they'll have family AND business relationships for years, decades, and probably generations, they don't just tolerate diversity of thought: they encourage it and applaud it in search of optimal outcomes.

Whether applied to individuals, couples, families, businesses, friends, or nations, you're absolutely right: each of us is sometimes wrong, and valuing diversity and disagreement does not mean that EVERY viewpoint or idea is valid or worthwhile, but it does mean that we should all be allowed to differ and encouraged to think for ourselves.

I watched live from São Paulo 23 years ago. My wife in Miami, family in Guatemala. News in English, Spanish, Portuguese. Sad. And angry.

There are always people who want us to be afraid, who sell us fear. NEVER let them win. NEVER let them manipulate us for their own gain.

Our families, businesses, and nations depend on us living and working together, for the greater good of the greater number, knowing that the best path overall is one where no one gets everything they want, but most of us get most of what we want and what is good for us.

Ideological purity is a paved, multilane highway to hell. Love, tolerance, and compromise is how families, family businesses, and entire nations thrive for centuries.
