#Ootd is #CharlesJames's 1952 Infanta cocktail dress. James does not normally use embroidery, but here there are black bugle beads all over a black silk net on top of layers of colored tulle. That's right! When the wearer moved, you would see flashes of orange, pink, and yellow.
Warning, these books may give you ideas!😉💡 Have you checked out our 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 displays yet? You can see this display and much more at the Great Northwest Branch Library. Visit today and check out a book that someone doesn't want you to read! 📚🤭

Dad multi-tasking: Cigarette, beer, flip phone. This man made me want to grow up to be an advocate. Like him. His best advice when things are dire: “No te agüites.”
Today's #ootd is another one Charles James, this time his 1954 Swan dress. It uses six layers of nylon tulle to play on the idea of the heavy Victorian bustle. It is airy and ephemeral, but actually is one of James's heaviest creations, weighing 12 pounds! #fashionhistory
The San Antonio Symphony announced it will dissolve amid labor disputes. The decision will make San Antonio the largest American city without a major orchestra.
“It is sad and it is completely unnecessary,” said a violinist in the orchestra.

This week's #FridayFrills is this 1954 Dior evening dress. Like all my favorite Dior pieces, the floral embroidery is the star of the show. The various thicknesses of ribbon/thread provide rich texture and the rhinestones a bit of flare. @museumatFIT#Fashionhistory
