Year 2 have been working hard and have earnt ANOTHER class party.
This time it was a biscuit decorating party.
The children were absorbed in their biscuit decorating.
Big smiles all round!
A special thank you to one of our parents that made the delicious biscuits for us! #RCFS
Willow and Ash class had a brilliant trip to Kew Gardens as part of their science topic.
Forest School has allowed the children to be familiar with the plants and trees in our local area - Kew Gardens allowed them to experience plants and tree varieties they haven't seen.

Year 3 Forest School - We have been making our own tent pegs!
Tent pegs are essential when you want to put up a shelter. If you don't have any pegs or you need more, you can make one!
Year 2 and fractions!
We have been exploring the different fractions by cutting paper plates into equal parts. First step halves- next step quarters and thirds!
They have become fraction masters, so when a plate wasn't cut correctly they labelled it as '2 unequal parts'!
Year 5 and Year 6 have visited the recently re-wilded Queensmere Pond. The children were absolutely taken aback by how beautiful it was.
We learnt about the different species, including those that don't belong in the pond. We were even lucky enough the resident terrapin.
The children of RCFS have been visiting the local ponds this week. Years 1-4 visited Scio pond, where we were met by Ranger May and Ranger Pete. They taught us all about pond life and how to protect the animals that live there.
We even got to meet the horses Mary and Overcast!
Year 5 knot week! We have been learning to use a Merlin Spike knot to make working ladders.
We made small ones for the fairies and larger ones for us to climb. We just love hanging around!
Year 2 were exploring mass during their Maths lesson and looked for the different items around the room to weigh.
They wrote down the different measurements and then used stem sentences e.g. "The___has a mass of __. " and comparative language The __ is heavier than __.
#RCFS
Year 2 showed off their timber hitch knots to make their own swings.
They then added comfortable seats and a soft landing.
Looking back at their swing models in D.T. last term and fast forward to their swing building in Forest School- these children are becoming expert engineers!
Afterschool care slime making!
The children in afterschool care were curious about the different rewards our Year 2 class can earn. When they found out they got a slime making party- they wanted one too!
So we made it happen! 🥳 Smiles all round!
Year 2 are exploring Trust as part of their RE this half term.
As part of RE and Forest School week they put their trust to the test! They felt what it means to put their trust in someone through a simple obstacle course- and how they feel if that trust is broken. #RCFSfamily
Year 2 are working on their very own non-chronological reports on an animal of their choice.
They are working tremendously hard on finding facts on their animals and then photos to match the facts on the computer.
Watch this space for their finished work!
Doubling and halving mastery! Year 2 have been getting competitive and played 4-in-a-row where they got to choose whether to double or half the number they roll. What conversations do you think sparked when they rolled an odd number?
Slick and Slimus from "The Emperor's New Clothes" have been trying to sell us their magical clothes. Year 2 have charmed us with their persuasion techniques and are now ready to write!
RE in Forest School week- we took what each year group were learning in the classroom outdoors! The children were engaged in creating symbolic masterpieces. #RCFS#Forestschool#Roehampton#RE
