A court has ruled that the Internet Archive, a key resource used by public libraries to lend books digitally, can no longer lend over 500,000 books like "The Catcher in the Rye" and "To Kill a Mockingbird."

The ruling states that the Internet Archive’s Controlled Digital Lending (CDL) program, used by public libraries to lend e-books, violates copyright laws.

CDL lets libraries lend one digital copy for each physical book they own, just like traditional lending. But publishers like Hachette sued, claiming it bypasses e-book licensing fees.

The Internet Archive is appealing, arguing CDL is essential for libraries to lend, preserve, and ensure access to out-of-print books.

Which is hilarious, because I quit my last day job to become a dad and Professional Musician because of the flexibility it gave me
