A YOU-nique style of Indulgence
I once heard a story... About a man who broke a window in a woman's house. He apologised. So she forgave him. And he assumed that meant the window wasn't broken anymore. But every night... Cold air came through the crack. Rain found its way inside. She could still feel the damage, even when nobody else could see it. So eventually she said... 'We need to fix the window.' And he looked confused. 'But I already said sorry. She tried to explain... 'I know. But saying sorry didn't replace the glass. And somehow, he became frustrated with her. 'Why are we still talking about this?' 'Why can't things just go back to normal?' 'I thought you forgave me.' And slowly, the broken window became less important than her reaction to being cold. So she started pretending she wasn't. She stopped mentioning the draught. Cleaned up the rain herself. Put another blanket around her shoulders and called it forgiveness. Until one day... She realised something. He didn't actually want forgiveness. He wanted access to the house without having to repair what he damaged inside it. And sometimes this is what happens in relationships... Someone hurts you, then becomes uncomfortable when the hurt changes you. They want the old closeness. The old trust. The old version of you. Without doing the work that would make those things feel safe again. But trust doesn't return because someone says... 'Can't we just move on?' Forgiveness isn't repair. An apology isn't changed behaviour.
And accountability isn't saying sorry, it's caring enough about the damage to help rebuild what was broken. Because you can forgive someone and still notice the window is broken. You can love someone and still need them to repair what they damaged. And sometimes... The reason things can't 'go back to normal' is because normal was where you kept getting hurt.
Perhaps the most generous thing one heart can offer another is the quiet reassurance that says, You are safe with me. You are enough for me. You always have been. Those words carry more than comfort.
They offer acceptance without conditions and love without the need to perform or prove. In a world where so many people fear not being enough, being chosen exactly as you are is a rare and beautiful gift.
It is the kind of love that eases anxious hearts, softens old wounds, and reminds us that we do not have to earn our place in someone’s life. Sometimes the greatest expression of love is simply making another person feel completely at home in your heart.
the truest signs of emotional intelligence is discernment. you may understand exactly why someone does what they do.
you see their patterns, their pain, their past, you can connect all the dots and see the bigger picture but you don't allow your empathy to override your self respect. just because you can understand why someone is treating you poorly doesn't mean you have to continue tolerating it. true emotional intelligence doesn't excuse hurtful behavior. it allows you to see someone's complexities while also discerning what's yours to hold vs what's theirs to heal.
at the end of the day, it's a win win. empathy without boundaries isn't emotional intelligence, it isn't love but it's self abandonment.
Once you learn how to shop directly from China, E.g Temù or shien your wardrobe changes completely. Call me cheap I don't care I ain't rich, I don't do fraud.😭
It's knowing what to search for.
Here's my style after making plenty of mistakes.
1. T-shirts:
Skip 100% polyester unless you're buying gym wear.
Instead, search:
• 100% Cotton
• Combed Cotton
• Heavyweight Cotton
• 240-300 GSM Cotton
• Premium Cotton
• Mercerized Cotton
The heavier the GSM, the thicker and more premium the shirt usually feels.
2. Jeans:
Denim Jeans
Temu is surprisingly good for denim if you know what to search.
Search:
• Denim Jeans
• Cotton Denim
• Raw Denim
• Selvedge Denim (if available)
• 98% Cotton + 2% Elastane
• 99% Cotton
Avoid jeans with high polyester content. The more cotton, the better they'll age and feel.
3. Body-hug clothing:
Search:
• Ribbed Knit
• Modal
• Viscose Blend
• Cotton-Spandex Blend
They hold their shape much better than cheap polyester.
4. Hoodies
Search:
• 400 GSM
• French Terry
• Cotton Fleece
• Heavyweight Hoodie
5. Chains
Search:
• 316L Stainless Steel
• Titanium Steel
• PVD Gold Plated
• Vacuum Plated
These are far more resistant to fading than ordinary fashion jewelry.
6. Earrings
Search:
• 925 Sterling Silver
• 316L Stainless Steel
• Hypoallergenic
• Moissanite (if you're buying stones)
7. Scarves
Search:
• Mulberry Silk
• Silk Blend
• Cashmere Blend
• Wool Blend
• Viscose
Avoid the shiny, thin polyester scarves if you're after a premium look.
8. Loafers
Search:
• Genuine Leather
• Cow Leather
• Full Grain Leather (rare but worth looking for)
• Rubber Outsole
9. Sneakers
Search:
• Rubber Outsole
• EVA Midsole
• Breathable Mesh
• Leather Upper
• Stitched Sole
Pictures lie a lot
The description usually tells the truth.
Here's how I shop:
1. Read the material composition before anything else.
2. Sort by Most Orders or Best Selling, not cheapest.
3. Only buy products with lots of reviews or pictures or even better when a Nigerian has purchased it before they always tell the truth.
4. Read the 1-star reviews first. They'll tell you what the seller won't.
5. Look at customer photos, not the product photos.
6. Check the weight of the product. Better quality clothing is often heavier.
7. Read the size chart. Don't assume your Nigerian size matches.
8. If the title has words like "luxury," "premium," or "designer" but the material is 100% polyester, not everything but still move on.
Your best friend isn't the product picture.
It's the material, the reviews, and the customer photos.
That's how you separate the gems from the junk.
I hope this help.
Things are to expensive for a country this poor.
non sexual intimacy is such a lost art. the eye contact, the gentle touch, deep convos, mutual support, holding hands, hugging, cooking meals together, non sexual massages, cuddling, shared experiences, curiosity. i can literally go on and on about this.
One of the loneliest experiences in adult life is wanting a relationship that is just slightly beyond what the person you love is capable of giving.
Not because they're bad or because they don't care. But because there's a gap between what you need and what they can offer, between the depth you're reaching for and the depth they're able to go and no amount of love on either side closes it.
You've had the conversations. You've explained what you need as clearly and patiently as you possibly can. They've listened, they've tried but it's still not quite there...not quite the emotional presence you need, not quite the level of intimacy you're starving for, not quite the partnership you imagined when you chose this person. Close enough that leaving feels absurd but far enough that staying hurts in a quiet, constant way.
You're allowed to need what you need. And you're allowed to grieve the specific sadness of loving someone who genuinely tries and still cannot give it to you.
the sexiest thing a man can do is learn you. not just love you, but understand you, know how to show up for you, recognize your silence, remember the little things, and make you feel seen. It's never about grand gestures; it's about being intentional in the ways that matter most
GENTEEE 🎁✨
On the contrary, you should be afraid of a partner who’s afraid of losing you, the person you should draw closer is the one who’s afraid to hurt you
If someone’s afraid to lose you, that’s attachment, they’re attached insecurely to you hence the dread, secure people aren’t afraid of losing you cos they know they’ll be alright after the pain, especially if you’ve become bad for them
But someone who’s afraid of hurting you, he’ll be considerate, he’ll think of you before making decisions, people like these are the best
A PRAYER TO START THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR STRONG
Dear God,
We're halfway through the year, and I don't want to coast into the rest of it the same way I started. I want to begin this second half with intention with you leading, not just me reacting to whatever comes.
Help me release what didn't go as hoped in the first half: the plans that fell through, the prayers still waiting on answers, and the version of this year I imagined back in January that doesn't match where I actually am. I don't want to carry that disappointment forward.
God, give me a fresh vision for what's ahead. Show me what to let go of and what to fight for. Strengthen what's weak in me. Restore what this year has already taken. And help me finish strong.
I'm starting the second half with you, God. Lead me through it.
Amen.
