They did a lot of damage to DC, making everything realistic. Realism doesn't allow superheroes to show their comic book essence by limiting them. I'm glad neither of them is in charge. James Gunn is embracing the comics, the fantasy, and weirdness without being ashamed of that.
People refer to Miller’s Batman as a fascist because of how he portrays criminals, I don’t buy into that. Bruce believes in rehabilitation and covers all Harvey’s expenses with even embracing him despite just going back to crime.
Fuck yeah bro, Comic Twitter. Huge boobs, Wonder Woman, Anarchists arguing in favor of ethnostates because of X-men, Green Lantern show, Mutant car accident flying through windshield, penis sex, it’s Comic Twitter dawg it’s lit
I was re-reading Grant Morrison’s “Final Crisis” recently. Still comfortably DC’s most ambitious and successful “Crisis” crossover. It gets eerily more relevant every time I read it.
A portrait of a fallen world, lost in the death throes of authoritarianism and late capitalism.
Mike Parobeck's work for DC Comics in the 90s was so underrated. Clean layouts with an animated style perfect for the Batman : TAS comic. Check out his run on Justice Society of America and the Elongated Man mini-series. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 30.
