This little girl was only 2 years old. Anna Sapun lost her life during a Russian shelling of Odesa.💔

Anna died overnight on April 6, 2026, when the Russians launched a massive attack on the city. Her mother, Daria, also died.💔

They did not make it to the shelter in time.

This beautiful girl had her whole life ahead of her.

A glimpse from 2022.

A refugee family from Kherson whom I helped with translation in the city hall (young mom and dad + 2 kids) told me how they went through.
Their neighbors were killed when trying to leave by car to the Ukrainian side.
So the only option was via Russia, which meant filtration.
The mom and the kids went easily.
The dad had to endure questioning by FSB, in which he pretended to be extremely apolitical.
A man before him was taken away and was never seen again. At the time, there were multiple occasions when people were just shot or put in torture basements, or imprisoned in an unknown prison in Russia with no means to communicate to their family they were alive.

The stories shocking the Western public right now have been around ever since 2014. Same stories. Hundreds of them.

Russians killed an entire family in Kyiv two days ago. They lived in a private house and didn’t survive a direct Shahed strike.

Mykyta, 22, was about to marry the love of his life in just a week. They were expecting a child and dreamed of building a family together.

He, his PREGNANT bride Oleksandra, his mother Tetiana, his father Yuriy and his 15 yo sister, Sophia, were all killed in the same house that night.

Почитав дуже показову реакцію польського суспільства на рахунок історика Нормана Девіса, який дав інтерв'ю польському виданню.

Британський історик, професор Оксфордського університету Норман Девіс по-суті не сказав нічого проривного.

Він не заперечив Волинь, не відбілював УПА і не почав розповідати полякам, що все це вигадка пропаганди. Навпаки, він говорить про злочини.

Але робить одну страшну для польської історичної політики річ — вимагає точності. А з точністю, як ми знаємо, у них починаються проблеми.

Девіс сказав просту річ: не можна брати Волинь, приклеювати її до всієї УПА, далі до всієї української історії, потім до сучасної України, а в кінці — до українських військових, які сьогодні воюють проти росії. Бо це чисто політика, а не історія.

І додав, що поляки мають бути обережнішими з тим, що говорять про Україну та її історію.

Він не каже, що УПА була святою організацією. Він каже, що УПА загалом не була кримінальною організацією, бо для українців значна частина її історії пов’язана не з Волинню, а з боротьбою проти окупантів, насамперед проти СРСР, який вчиняв геноцид та терор. І саме тому рішення назвати підрозділ на честь героїв УПА не є автоматичним прославленням трагедії.

І от тут у польської правої пам’яті починається коротке замикання.

Бо зручна схема має виглядати так:
1. Польське підпілля — чисте, українське підпілля — злочинне.
2. Армія Крайова — тільки герої, УПА — тільки злочинці.
3. Польща — тільки жертва, українці — тільки боржники по історичній моралі.

А Девіс говорить: ні, друзі, так не працює. Якщо говорите про Волинь — говоріть і про польські вбивства українців. Якщо говорите про УПА — говоріть і про Армію Крайову. Якщо говорите про український націоналізм — говоріть і про міжвоєнну Польщу, де українці не мали рівних прав, пережили жорстоку пацифікацію 1930-х і цілком могли вважати себе однією з найбільш скривджених меншин у тій державі.

А ще говоріть про операцію «Вісла», де вже після війни польська держава виселила близько 140 тисяч українців і лемків з їхніх земель. Бо історія не працює так.

Цікаве в цій історії навіть не це.

Норман Девіс — це не якийсь український твіттерський «бандерівець», якого полякам легко записати в агенти Києва. Це один із головних західних істориків, які десятиліттями пояснювали англомовному світу, що Польща — це не просто додаток до росії, Німеччини чи Австрії. Що польська історія — окрема велика історична цивілізація Центрально-Східної Європи.

Його книга God’s Playground фактично стала однією з головних книжок, через які Захід почав дивитися на Польщу серйозніше. Якого свого часу критикували за надто необ’єктивну подачу польської історії.

Тобто поки Девіс допомагав полякам витягувати їхню історію з периферії західної історіографії — він був великий історик. Поки писав про польську жертвенність і польське місце в Європі — все було нормально. А щойно цей самий Девіс сказав, що польська пам’ять теж має темні сторінки, що УПА не зводиться до Волині, а українців не можна перетворювати на колективний історичний вирок — все, почалась істерика. А Девіс, до речі, має Орден Білого Орла за його роль у дослідженні та популяризації польської історії, польське громадянство, Орден Відродження Польщі, Хрест Великий Ордену Заслуги Республіки Польща, медаль Gloria Artis, а також звання почесного громадянина Варшави з 2005 року.

Класика жанру.

Проблема в тому, що частина польської політики вже давно не займається історією. Вона займається виробництвом моральної переваги. Інститут національної пам’яті, Навроцький і вся ця права історична машина дуже хочуть, щоб польська історія була не складною, а зручною. Без імперського шовінізму, без пацифікацій, без насильства проти українців, без операції «Вісла», без власних злочинів до, під час і після Другої світової.

Бо якщо це все визнати, тоді доведеться говорити не мовою вимог, а мовою історика. А це вже неприємно.

І Девіс якраз про це. Не про те, що українці невинні. Не про те, що поляки винні у всьому. А про те, що історія складніша за польську пропаганду «Христоса народів», де є тільки святі і правильна державна пам’ять.

Отака іронія. Людина, яка багато років була одним із найсильніших популяризаторів польської історії на Заході, раптом стала для частини поляків проблемою рівно в той момент, коли нагадала їм про їхню історію.

І отак вони самі себе заганяють у кут далі. Спочатку побудували політику пам’яті на власній святості, а тепер щиро дивуються, чому будь-яка спроба говорити про повну картину звучить для них як напад.

Попри всі намагання журналістки спровокувати Девіса, найбільше сподобались його слова: «Ця афера/історія дорого коштуватиме Польщі в майбутньому».

You often see lines like: "When will the world finally hear us?", "World, don’t close your eyes," or "Please, don’t stay silent." Last night, the russians struck Zaporizhzhia and Sumy again-as always, brutally and mercilessly, as if we Ukrainians are not human beings, but just a testing ground, a place where they can do whatever they want with impunity, because it’s "war," after all.

This morning, I see my people showing the world the horrific footage of another terrible night; as always, only the names of the cities change. And yes, the world sees everything, the world hears, the world is not silent. But what is the point of it all? What can an ordinary person from any European country really do on a global scale? We have already heard every kind of condolence, and every prayer in the world has been addressed to Ukrainians and Ukraine.

Half of 2026 is already behind us. Perhaps the world has just grown accustomed to someone else’s pain. Or maybe this war has dragged on so long that everyone is starting to feel hopeless and powerless... Honestly, I don't know anymore. But I do know one thing: silence is not an option. Yet, appealing to the world no longer makes sense-everyone already knows, sees, and hears everything. And the russians act as if this is their world, or as if they’ve simply taken the wheel and are dictating the rules of impunity... I don’t even know how to end this text.

An elderly Canadian gentleman of 83 arrived in Paris by plane.

At the French customs desk, the man took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry-on bag.

"You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked, sarcastically.

The elderly gentleman admitted he had been to France previously.

"Then you should know enough to have your passport ready."

The Canadian said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."

"Impossible, Canadians always have to show your passports on arrival in France!"

The Canadian senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look, then he quietly explained, "Well, when I came ashore at Juno Beach on D Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find any Frenchmen to show it to."

👉🏼Ils ont prétendu l’emmener à Moscou afin de la soigner, mais en réalité ils l’ont emmenée illégalement en Russie.
⚠️Aujourd’hui encore, la fillette vit toujours là-bas : son nom a été changé pour un nom 🇷🇺, son lieu de naissance a été falsifié, et elle a été adoptée par ce couple de hauts responsables. Elle est privée de sa famille 🇺🇦, de sa langue et de son pays.
💔Malheureusement, ce n’est pas un cas isolé. Des milliers d’enfants 🇺🇦 ont été déportés de force depuis les territoires occupés vers la 🇷🇺, où beaucoup ont été placés dans des orphelinats ou des familles 🇷🇺. Des députés et d’autres hauts responsables 🇷🇺participent activement à ces transferts, traitant ces enfants 🇺🇦 comme des trophées de guerre ou des objets à s’approprier !
C’est un crime odieux, un génocide !

A mother kneels beside the body of her son, killed by a Russian missile in his own home. There are no words that can capture this grief.

While documenting the aftermath of Russia's attack on Kyiv on July 2, Ukrainian photojournalist Ivan Antypenko was invited inside by Tetiana. "You can come in and look, but my son Roma is lying there. He is dead. He isn't breathing anymore," she told him.

Russia's strike on Kyiv killed 30 civilians and injured dozens more. While the aggressor continues to wage war against human lives, the world must not look away. Russia's impunity must come to an end.
