Daily Market Insight 10/9 #ES_F
There are several (secondary) bullish factors in this market as the green lines show, but the main levels are same as yesterday 5793 and 5750. The past few sessions have seen small probes beyond this range (either o/n or in day session) resulting in full traversal back across the range. It's been beautiful to watch.
Our NADRO Laws of Market Dynamics have us looking for more of the same until proven otherwise. We'll be watching for that, and keeping it "scalpy" until the market shows us something has changed.
Getting good at trading is so very hard. Staying good at trading is hard too.
I can't tell you how many times I thought I would quit, thought I should quit.
I want to encourage you guys there. For better or worse, that kind of torment is a part of the journey in this arena.
Every time I take a trade it’s like I’m reaching into a bowl of random pieces of paper and six of them say “Loss” and four say “Win” on them.
Embrace this as a mentality. Embrace this as a way of trading that can produce great results.
If you get good enough at reading context (Narrative for NADRO folks) - I'm telling you guys... it's just duking it out with randomness with a halfway decent execution methodology from there. A solid risk plan. A solid mental framework to stay objective. A decent trade management plan to handle winners. Boom you are there.
There is no perfect blanket advice. I see some not serious enough about process, and I see others going way overboard and nit picking everything thinking they can arrive at perfection (they can't).
Now go read the first paragraph again.
Daily Market Insight #ES_F 8/12
The insight today is that there truly isn't much insight to be had.
Our Narrative read tells us that ES is still working towards 5427 or 5454 as medium term destination areas. The problem is that we're now kind of drifting in open space where sellers could also win the momentum at any point and do things like take us down for a retest at a numerous number of places.
If we do start to trade lower 5335 is a mildly decent inflection to watch, especially if we hold below there we could again see a traversal towards the lower edge of last week's range.
Again, the main point today is that there's no real areas to lean on for +EV bias at these prices. That's part of having great analysis - it also tells you when there's not much to do, and that's important.
Stay tuned to this account for some long US equities calls on an investor/swing timeframe. Each will have current price, stop, target listed. Could be fun. I'll keep it all in THIS thread. We'll track cumulative R-based results here also. Cheers. #ES_F $SPY
I don't think many folks realize that good traders and bad traders BOTH have many of the same hairbrained ideas or impulses that pop into their minds (often emotional) during the session. The bad trader is driven to action of some type, but the good trader does nothing.
How do the good traders do nothing in those moments?
They have learned the combination of:
1) process/checklist/must-have's for a good trade, and
2) they have learned to 'consciously check in' when they have the subconscious idea/impulse.
That's really it. I could go on and on about details, but that's the gist of what separates MANY in this game.
It takes a lot of WORK to both develop & get a deep understanding of your process/methodology/best trading (and perhaps your worst too), combined with the WORK required to improve that conscious awareness thinking.
For many (probably most) this doesn't involve a ton of what you'd think of as 'psychology work'. It's more a thing of (through pain and deep STUDY/REVIEW work) finding out little things that work and little things that don't work. Could be price based, could be indicator based, etc. You start to put together one little thing after another that either stacks odds in favor of a situation, or against.
This is how you end up with some traders that can't really explain their method/edge very succinctly. It's kind of subconscious- all the little learnings. Others (like me) work to bring all those things out to a more objective place where they can be studied further and understood more.
Know what to do, and consciously take actions that line up with that knowledge is one final way of putting it differently. Cheers.
