@JohnCleese As always, JC ahead of the curve, comedically and culturally. Thank you John. The coming months and years will be very interesting and likely just as difficult.
This is superb.
The lesson begins with the usual catechism: J.K. Rowling has “bigoted opinions”.
Then someone makes the unforgivable mistake of reading what she actually wrote.
Suddenly, certainty requires definitions. Slogans require evidence. “Everyone knows” requires rather more than everyone saying it.
Critical thinking really is murder on a fashionable consensus.
I think the spell has completely broken. The word “far-right” has lost its sting as a moral tripwire and everyone is seeing through the ruse.
Scroll the comments under any piece about AfD’s result in Saxony-Anhalt and you can see it immediately.
In 2016, the label “far-right” still worked. People panicked and acted accordingly.
In 2026 they either no longer believe it or laugh in its face. The replies are blunt:
“not far-right, just right”
“this is what a 90s liberal believed”
“wanting a border isn’t far-right”
This is the inevitable result of the mainstream media stretching the label “far-right” until it covered any opinion to the right of Lenin. Once a term is used on sensible opinions on border control, energy policy, crime statistics and school admissions, it just becomes noise and people start resenting the attempts at manipulation. Gay race communism became the only position that was ok to hold.
Well.. the people hate what their countries have become. They don’t believe the media anymore and the term “far-right” has completely lost its moral weight.
Which will be a problem the day that a true need to deploy it arises… but until then.
@LUSCarborough 100%. Sadly not just the UK. That local and working class people often can't afford or get tickets is anathema. The world has changed and moved on, as Dylan wrote "Money doesn't talk, it swears"😒
@Sir_Abdouu Yep, THAT is NOT what he's saying in the video, and you're 100% right. JK would never react that way. Pathetic attempt, but some will believe it.
The wisdom of common sense, versus the hubris of poorly thinking people. I believe most women and men appreciate your stand. Anyone who truly loves their their kids could not possibly entertain psychological manipulation of their children, much less allowing irreversible surgical changes, that will likely make them suffer for life. There is an illness in our current society that I simply cannot understand. These children need adults to be parents, protectors and nurturers.
I see I am being ritually insulted for my support of this man
The uneducated call me a racist
I am not a racist
I am a culturalist
I believe that some cultures are better than others
I prefer cultures to do not advocate stoning, pederasty,
wife beating, female genital mutilation, and beheading opponents
Call me old-fashioned...
Yup, we're old fashioned together, thank goodness 😆 🤣 😂 Please continue with the common sense advocacy 🙏
BTW Monty Python seems to have been prophetic in so many ways, in retrospect!
PS My special 33 y.o. daughter loves both Monty Python, Fawlty Towers passionately, and especially "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"; all is not lost with the younger generation!
The left’s visceral loathing of anyone they deem “right-wing” has grown so absolute that it now eclipses even the most basic instinct for self-preservation
They will defend the undefendable, excuse the inexcusable, and twist every atrocity into an opportunity to smear their domestic opponents. Nothing will perturb their worldview.
And the cruel irony is that the rest of us - those who still value existence and transcendence - are forced to inhabit the same society, the same declining order, with people whose moral compass points only toward self-destruction.
