Not exactly as John Longworth claimed (eurozone 2x faster) and the extra 130,000 public sector employees & their expenses since Brexit cost more than £10bn pa. Stripe boss in today’s Times claims many EU companies are better placed to benefit from AI
Britain has already benefited from Brexit, outperforming France and Germany and the Eurozone, saving billions of EU fees and is set for growth: biotech, financial services, fintech and AI, all now free of EU red tape. https://t.co/i2x06PKkvS
@JohnCotton@ChrisGiles_ What new freedoms? We tried introducing new British only tech standards and industry reacted badly. Companies don’t like being forced to double up on testing requirements and increased costs of testing two sets of standards
@BBCNewsnight Brexit was however particularly bad for exporting SMEs. Many stopped exporting altogether and it was unrealistic to expect all of them to increase marketing costs by selling to to far-off markets and navigate the commissions typically needed, bearing in mind the UK’s Bribery Act
Opinion: Ten years, and Brexit for Northern Ireland hasn’t happened. It’s time for a hard line - The country remains subjugated under the jackboot of the EU. That is a constitutional outrage which must be remedied. In any event GB must march on https://t.co/D3MEsqloCB
It’s certainly true that the public sector workforce increased by around 130,000 since Brexit at huge cost and immigration increased as Europeans were replaced by those from Africa and Asian countries & their dependents. NI increases have dampened down private sector recruitment
In these volatile times, the Government must move much faster.
We’re urging them to commit to reaching 3% of GDP on defence by 2030, to adopt our £20 billion defence bond programme proposal and cancel their order of US jets to use the money saved to buy 12 new British-made Typhoon jets instead.
@john4brexit Many people think he was a very good Governor of the BoE and he’s turned out to be an excellent PM of Canada. They seem to be doing very well in Canada since he faced up to Trump. It’s usually helpful to understand international finance and so it has proved in his case.
@DCBMEP Britain employs 130,000 extra public sector staff since Brexit at huge annual cost. Many work on trade deals which add little value and some deals like the Australia TD are very bad for our agri sector.
