The issue of fire service recruitment and retention goes beyond just the numbers. While it's common to focus on the shortage of personnel, there's a deeper concern that often remains unaddressed – the widening experience gaps within fire departments.
Everyone that has used the 160gpm@50psi HEN always issue similar statements. Rapid lift and cooling, faster suppression with less effort from the Nozzle position. These are three slides that may shed some light to the reasons why. Placement is KEY @fireengineering@hoseman14
A lot of respect to the Bruins for honoring fallen firefighter Jason Arno during tonight’s game, who lost his life tragically yesterday during a 4-alarm fire. My thoughts go out to his family, and his brothers and sisters with the Buffalo Fire Dpt. Gone but never forgotten #BFD
Right sizing, Small Attack Package Hose is challenging, considering actual charged internal diameters. FDs in 150-175 gpm flow ranges should be at right around 1.8-inches in a hose designed for 50psi NP. It takes work to spec hose & ensure consistency. @FDICevent#educationiskey
Volunteerism in the US: Socioeconomic conditions have an extremely high impact on volunteer numbers.
Does anybody look at it through this lens?

Saying “division 2” instead of “floor 2” has got to be one of the absolute dumbest things I’ve heard of.
Seems like a great way to make yourself sound ‘elite’ to everyone who can’t see through the BS.
Anyone have a good reason for doing this?
@Bc01c I’m specifically speaking about departments who refer to the 2nd floor as division 2, with no ICS supervisor of that location, and no real reason to use a term other than the simplest of terms.
