School choice is a huge win at face value, but we should consider how authoritarians might use it subversively in the future.

@TRHLofficial Regardless of those questions, 1st aggressive officer had no authority to push the woman to the ground or pepper spray Pretti - both were on the opposite side of tge street, not able to interfere with the deportation at all. The rest doesn't matter bc no arrest was justified.

@James38505272 @FenixAmmunition He didn't attack anyone, and it was not a combat zone. He wasn't even in a position to interfere with any lawful deportation operation, he was on the other side of the street defending a woman who was pushed down despite presenting no threat to any of the officers.

@libertarian_ass @isaiah_bb Let's say for argument's sake he did reach for it. The officers had no cause to pepper spray, beat, push, detain, or arrest him. He was on the opposite side of the street, in no way interfering with any lawful operation. Right to self defense applies even against feds.

@HardPass4 You absolutely can. For example, a man in Maryland was found NOT GUILTY after shooting cops who executed a warrant on the wrong address.

The badge isn't a permit to unlawfully assault, invade, etc. and the right to self defense ALWAYS applies even against cops.

@JPoliticalChess @FenixAmmunition and frankly he would have been justified shooting after the agent started pepper spraying. Cops don't get to do anything just because of their badge. In one case a guy defended his home with a firearm against cops executing a warrant on the wrong address. He was found not guilty.

He defended white jacket woman who was attacked despite already backing off and not being at all capable of interfering with their arrest of the immigrant. Defending another person from assault is legal, doesn't matter who the assaulter is.

It signals "that's enough, we're satisfied and don't demand anything more." That's weak negotiation, not the tactical win you think.
