Top Ten Tips for ECTs
1. Relationships are key
Build them with everyone. Pupils, teachers, SLT, TAs, cleaners, office staff, parents, governors.
They’ll be the ones with knowledge you need and who can help you out. And with the kids - no relationships hinders learning.
If anyone is trying to write end of year reports, I’ve just created this prompt sheet of ideas which I think is mainly KS2 suited but as the hardest part is getting started, hoping it may help someone! #edutwitter#NQTs#PrimaryRocks#reportwriting@MrTs_NQTs
Looking for a good text to use in English with Y3 during Summer 2. Got a couple of ideas but hoping Twitter can give something fresh! No set text type or writing genre yet, can be flexible, but need to get some substantial writing from it. Help!! @MrTs_NQTs Please retweet! 😊
@missroberts21 @aliciaconnors3 Also - building relationships is key!🔑 if you know your children and how to to relate to them and talk to them, behaviour management and the class environment in general is much easier/nicer! They know what you expect from them and you can learn what they expect from you 👩🏻🏫
@missroberts21 @aliciaconnors3 Ask as many questions as you possibly can! There’s so much that you can only learn on the job, so don’t be ashamed to ask questions or say ‘I don’t know how to do this!’ You’ll learn every day. I was so quiet in my NQT year and I regret not asking more questions!
Don’t tell me I’m behind.
Don’t tell me I’ll be held back for ever.
Don’t tell me I need longer at school.
Don’t tell me I’m lost.
Tell me I can do it.
Tell me you’ll help me.
Tell me you believe in me.
Tell me we’ll do it together.
Yours sincerely,
The children.
@MissLtheRQT Please don’t beat yourself up! You’re trying your best, and I bet your children feel huge relief that their teacher is struggling to - it will only make their feelings more relevant and help them cope through such a hard time! Don’t be embarrassed - you’re only human❤️
@MissBrown_EHU Ah right I see! I’m working from home at the minute because I have to shield, so unfortunately can’t go into school and using my interactive whiteboard! Thank you though ☺️
Help please! When people are doing live lessons/recording videos how do you get the lighting right so you can read writing on a whiteboard? It always looks too faint on camera & it’s difficult to read but I can’t figure out how to make it better!🤔🤣 #edutwitter#remotelearning
This week I was introduced to an app called GIF toaster to help with my online lesson. This is definitely something I wish I knew about for the 15 weeks of online learning I did last year. To all those in the UK that are now doing pre-recorded lessons I would highly recommend!
Does anyone have any tips/tricks on teaching script writing to Year 3/4? 📄A lot of them aren’t understanding the structure of a script and I’m finding it really difficult to teach virtually? Also, has anyone for a good script template? #edutwitter#year3teacher#year4
