You know, some people are first movers and others just need to have a look at all that interwebz before making a decision. My good friend and colleague @krogh_sc finally made it to Twitter - he was convinced about social data science before Twitter :D
@_mikepound Captains log: I would have loved to wish Mike a happy birthday but I since I entered VIM 4271 days ago, I still see no exit. I fear I might perish here.
I think this is amazing and will help auto-generate a plethora of images with imaginary people. By using synthetic data, we are able to conduct research on very specific topics without risking problems with anonymity.
I talked to a colleague about using images in interviews to help understanding beauty standards and what people perceive as beauty but using non-commercial images of ordinary people was problematic (GDPR). That is until @nvidia solved that problem! https://t.co/nWLD8UlUvt
@JosephineLehaff@AAUforskeren@CambridgeUP It depends. It basically outlines the way these methods came to be as well as teach how they are used and how the mathematics work. While it is brilliant in teaching these methods it might lack depth in very specific methods in applied ML. If it had that it would be 5000 pages :D
Since I had the pleasure of being “the person” on @AAUforskeren I’ve decided that I probably should get back in the Twitter-game, or at least give it a go. I’ll start out by a recommendation for everyone interested in machine learning. This book, I think, is massively important!
What many fail to understand (because ML and AI are massive buzzwords) is that statistics, econometrics and machine learning are not inherently different things. This book outlines exactly that in a brilliant way and I can’t wait to include this in teaching!
Even though the view from my desk only changes slightly when going back to my office at Aalborg University this Tuesday, I feel like a small child before Christmas! The setup might be the same but having my friends and colleagues around me makes a world of difference!
I HATE BEING QUARANTINED
STUCK IN ONE STUPID BUILDING ALL THE TIME
I WOULD RATHER GO BETWEEN THE SAME TWO OR THREE BUILDINGS REPEATEDLY DOING THE SAME ACTIVITIES IN AN ALMOST IDENTICAL ORDER
NOW THATS LIVING
@kbkarlson I would agree and perhaps even add that the function is non-linear. I have three kids and I would have suspected that you just add a factor of tiredness for each. Apparently there are some interaction effects as well that definitely needs more research.
The AI field is moving fast. That is why I am looking forward to explore the use of satellite image recognition in combination with Swedish register data to understand social phenomena as poverty and segregation in collaboration with LiU and and with funding by @Vetenskapsradet
Learning about the possibilities with the Nvidia DGX-2 at Aalborg University - CLAAUDIA is hard at work providing great service for AI research!
