@ohhevans That's funny bc I find reading about it way more viscerally upsetting! I guess because my mind knows it's all fake, but reading about it I am thinking about the real suffering that informed it and get like... Suicidal.
@ohhevans Oh I did mean the "being upset by suffering" haha. I was accepted to a classics program as a teen but never ended up going, and now I wish I did!
1 of the biggest lies that elder millennials will propagate on this website is that sleigh bells was a definitive band of their era. they had like 2 good songs, and one of them was completely carried by the funkadelic sample
Girls - Album (2009) was the hipster moment. Last echo of 60s SF countercultural down-and-out bohemianism into the recession and just before tech and finance completely swallowed everything, like fuck it let’s hit the beach and have some fun
And like I do try! It just doesn't come naturally to me at all. I wish I did! I love women and think they are cool but it is very hard for me to connect with other women and behave correctly. When I try to hard I end up getting treated like a creepy pathetic guy by them lmao.
I don't think this is necessarily a "woman" thing but I will say I struggle a lot with female socialized behaviour. It is just very exhausting and bc I am not copying/mirroring the fawning/performatively sweet behaviour, girls get sooo mad
@peachtard@danadonnelly Glad someone said it. Women moralize gut-feelings, so they will drag you and tear you apart just for failing an aura test you didn't even know was happening lol
Extremely ironic the amount of victim-blaming occurring here - "you must be a bad person if we don't like you"
look, i'm not humorless so i can get behind jokes looking back on the hipster era just as much as the next girl who spent too much money at american apparel. But people have GOT to stop associating that scene with stomp clap lumineers shit. it's inaccurate!
