Hmh: “No, no, not at all! How can that be possible? Who dares to think that?”

“My feelings were actually pretty complicated. I held everything in and tried to calm myself down. The moment they called my name was completely unexpected. I genuinely didn’t see it coming. I’d already prepared myself mentally to be standing on that stage, facing a situation where it comes down to 6-pick-3.

But honestly, at that moment, I wasn’t nervous at all. Because by the time I finished singing on that stage, I had already made peace with it. The reason is that after performing so many times, this was the first time I truly felt it was so easy to immerse myself in the music and sincerely connect with everyone through it. A lot of people don't understand this, but there is MASSIVE difference between live singers and recording singers. A lot of time, recording singers don't translate well to live singers.

A modern studio vocal is often a "composite" (comp) of the best syllables, phrases, and notes stitched together from dozens of different takes. And then there is basic pitch correction, precise equalization, compression, and artificial depth to make a thin or unsteady voice sound massive and pristine.

Live singers are moving, dancing, or dealing with adrenaline, which wreaks havoc on breath control. On stage, there is the venue acoustics, crowd noise, and "latency". If their in-ear monitors fail or the stage mix is bad, they literally cannot hear themselves.

This is the reason why the new season of Singer got criticism. Some audience think the singers sing badly, but actually, they just sing in a live broadcast, while in previous, popular seasons, it was pre-recorded. It is different kind of adrenaline rush.

#HouMinghao, when he sings solo, always sings completely live, without vocal backing track. He is a very stable live singer. This is why he dared to go to the audition, and why he passed. And also, this is why, despite he doesn't have any song of his own except OST, people actually paid a lot to attend his concerts, and he is selling out 3 concerts of 10K++ headcounts already, with 1million++ people in waiting for his next concerts.
