$TMC signing a commercial agreement with Allseas is another step toward making the deep-sea mining thesis feel more tangible.
The biggest takeaway to me isn’t just the headline itself, it’s that Allseas is moving further from pilot/testing mode into actual commercial execution. That helps reduce some of the “science project” concerns around the story.
Still, I don’t think this suddenly removes the risks here. The major hurdles remain:
- permitting/regulatory approvals
- financing/capital needs
- operational execution at scale
But if $TMC can continue converting technical milestones into commercial partnerships like this, it strengthens the long-term bull case considerably.
Still so bullish on them.
This industry is driving deep-sea research globally. Our $250 million environmental program has already resulted in the publication of 37 peer-reviewed studies based on the world’s largest deep-sea dataset—at over a petabyte in size. As researchers study this dataset and we move toward continuously monitored commercial operations, we expect hundreds of published papers in the months and years ahead.
