🍂September marks the beginning of the 🗓️
Church year, opening with two Great Feasts: the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
🗓️ Friday marks 65 years since the repose of Hieromartyr Hilarion Felea, who confessed the Orthodox faith through his pastoral and teaching ministry as well as during years of imprisonment under Romania’s communist regime.
”The power of God is effective when a person asks for the help from God, acknowledging his own weakness and sinfulness. This is why humility and the striving towards God are the fundamental virtues of a Christian”.
– St. John Maximovitch
I am thrilled share our latest publication in ACS Nano:

In this work led by @elissa_shehayeb, we demonstrate how an array of novel conductive metal-organic frameworks (cMOFs) can be engineered to address important challenges in the detection and differentiation of toxic gases. From the sensor performance perspective, this array detects and differentiates hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, sulfur dioxide, and nitric oxide at sub-part-per-million concentrations within 6 seconds. From a more fundamental perspective, this work provides key insights into how the balance between electronic conductivity and protonic transport can influence sensor performance within this general class of materials.
Congratulations to the team: @elissa_shehayeb, Joseph Chan, Doran Pennington, @chhendon!

Prestigious doctor leaves a crowded room stunned after asking pro-abortion politicians:
"If abortion is healthcare, my question is: what disease are you treating?"
„De câte ori te lupți cu ceva care nu-ți iese și, deodată, întâlnești privirea cuiva din mulțime și te simți ca după Împărtășanie… Totul devine mai ușor.”
Un moment profund din filmul „Andrei Rublev” al lui Tarkovsky despre întâlnirea dintre om și sensul Jertfei lui Hristos.
The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church has declared the year 2026 the Commemorative Year of Holy Women in the church calendar.
Therefore, we invite you to discover each month examples of holy women — mothers, wives, monastics, and martyrs — models of Christian life.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of the Empower Women in MOFs and Beyond conference in Mexico City and Mérida. Over the past week, we brought together an extraordinary community of scientists, innovators, and advocates committed to building a more equitable and inclusive future in materials chemistry.
From powerful keynotes and thought-provoking panels to moments of genuine connection, the conference highlighted what becomes possible when we combine scientific excellence with shared purpose. The energy, courage, and generosity of this community made the event truly unforgettable.
It was an honor to deliver a keynote titled “Framing the Future: A Blueprint for Empowerment.” In it, I reflected on the structural forces that shape scientific careers and institutions, and proposed concrete tools we can use to build more equitable and resilient institutions, ranging from effective mentorship, leadership training, and active allyship. I was deeply moved by the conversations that followed and by the generosity with which attendees shared their own experiences.
Thank you to our speakers, organizers, sponsors, and attendees for showing up with intention, curiosity, and leadership. I’m leaving inspired, and more committed than ever to advancing structural accountability, mentorship, and empowerment in our field.
Onward!
Check out our latest work led by Georganna Benedetto in collaboration with @CoryMSimon published in ACS Sensors.
We use chemiresistive MOF sensors paired with machine learning to achieve detection and differentiation of toxic gases, as well as deconvolution of gas mixtures comprising hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide:
