Over 200,000 union troops were German born

Around 160,000 union troops were Irish born

Hundreds of thousands more came from Canada, England, Scotland, Switzerland, France, Italy, Poland, and Mexico.

An additional 18 percent of Union soldiers had at least one foreign-born parent.

"The War of Brother Against Brother" may have been true at one point, but the introduction of 400k+ foriegn mercenaries ended that notion. I can't imagine a modern scenario in which we would stomach enlisting foriegn soldiers to kill Americans.

We were always already given a perversion of Homer. Making bored teenagers read a book of either epic in school while an incompetent instructor screeched about misogyny or violence or someone’s state of mind is why we got here. Homer has been separated from his power.

It's actually worse that millions of people have now seen Nolan's anti-Odyssey than if they'd never heard of the poem at all. The film completely inverts Homer's characters and morality. It's much easier to educate the ignorant than to reeducate the brainwashed.
