U.S. Stocks Close | Nvidia Earnings Boost Tech Stocks, Nasdaq Rises 1.57% Ahead of the Jackson Hole Speech
According to Sina Finance, U.S. stocks closed higher on Thursday, as Nvidia and the latest earnings reports from other major technology companies boosted market sentiment. Nvidia performed strongly, while the technology sector, the S&P 500, and the Nasdaq Composite all had their best day since August 4.
Brown pointed out that the interaction between AI-related stocks and other sectors of the market has kept correlations between stocks relatively low, which has implications for risk.
“Volatility is very high, but correlations are very low, so overall volatility remains relatively low,” she said. “Our concern is that this low volatility could give investors a false sense of security.”
Traders are preparing for the Federal Reserve’s annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Walsh is expected to deliver the keynote speech on Friday.
