🔸Back in 1987 when the Constitution was amended to allow for the direct election of the President, Edison Zvobgo made a compelling case for direct election. He observed that this direct election process was core to “one man, one vote” and denounced the notion of a parliamentary executive as being divorced from the people.
It’s a pity @ZANUPF_Official no longer has intellectual muscle of this caliber. They cannot even have a sound cerebral debate. Varikubatirana pfuti nekunyima vanhi secret ballot in their desperation to rail road a brainless amendment that will ruin the remaining embers of our democracy.
They’ve been reduced to mbingarism, cash for votes and cars for loyalty. They leave their brains at the door. Intellect has been replaced by paid trolls who flip flop according to the highest bidder. Of it’s not paid activism, then it’s a predatory elite that’s stolen so much they’re consumed by the pandemic of conspicuous consumption - spending money meant for basic services on their personal largesse.
Ndozvamakaendera kuhondo here izvi? Our true heroes must be turning in their graves. Did their blood go to waste?
It’s a mess.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
Ian Smith was a racist, no doubt, however during his time our currency was stronger than the British Pound. The trains worked, the sewer system worked, there was electricity, there was clean water and we were the bread basket. ZANU PF simply had to maintain the standard if not do better. Today, they have failed to make life better for black people! They have failed to do better than Ian Smith. We refused White led Rhodesia back then and we refuse black led Rhodesia today. The Rhodesian State was build upon the premise of black suffering! The same can be said about ZANU PF today. How do you run a country so badly that hospital don’t have water and they kill more people than they help recover! How do you still have political prisoners in 2024 in Zimbabwe? What’s makes it grotesque is that ZANU Pf is such a loser that they blame everyone else except themselves. Zero responsibility and zero accountability! Clowns masquerading as a government!
Away from the public gaze, these are mountains of Zimbabwean chrome at a Mozambican port, being shipped to China.
The plunder of this chrome by Zimbabwe’s ruling elites has made them immensely wealthy at the expense of their own country, which suffers from a collapsed healthcare system.
After co-opting part of the opposition and neutralising the legitimate side of it, Zimbabwe’s tyrant Emmerson Mnangagwa, his family, and their surrogates are literally pillaging Zimbabwe!
The fact that this is happening at the expense of the country's healthcare system and other basic public services shows how the tyrant and his surrogates no longer even pretend to care!
The tyrant has closed democratic space using arbitrary arrests, torture, captured judiciary and imprisonment without bail.
Put simply, Zimbabwe is now a text book Banana Republic under Emmerson Mnangagwa!
#Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 must immediately release #HumanRights defenders who have been arbitrarily detained for over two weeks and drop charges against them, UN experts state.

This is Jameson Timba in prison uniform, a very senior opposition leader in Zimbabwe.
You must know him today if you didn’t already.
He is in jail after being arrested last week with his son and 70 other young people who had met at his home to commemorate the 1976 South African Youth Day.
Timba loves mentoring young people!!!
Jameson Timba has lost a lot from supporting the struggle against tyranny in Zimbabwe.
That is why every sane Zimbabwean should stand up for him and the 70 others who are in jail with him!
This is a man I met around 2006 when he owned a thriving IT business in Harare and Bulawayo.
He chose to support the struggle against corrupt rule and tyranny and lost all the contracts he had.
He was part of Morgan Tsvangirai’s political backbone.
I remember meeting him at O.R. Tambo Airport in September 2008 when I was flying back home with Morgan Tsvangirai.
Timba had just landed from Harare.
He was fleeing from the 2008 post-election violence, while Tsvangirai was returning home after being in hiding in Botswana for months.
We were driven to the airport by Strive Masiyiwa’s security and team of drivers.
My then boss, Tim Singleton, who now heads the Sky News foreign desk, flew me to Johannesburg to be on Morgan Tsvangirai’s flight back home.
I was the ITV News producer covering Zimbabwe and I had a very good relationship with Tsvangirai who agreed that I would get exclusive access to film for our News at Ten programme on ITV News in the UK.
As we went through VIP security at O.R. Tambo, Tsvangirai was told that one of his lieutenants had landed and wanted to see him before he flew out to Harare. It was Timba!
“Do you have money,” Tsvangirai asked Timba.
With tears overwhelming him, Timba simply said, “I will be fine, but our people have been brutalised and are in submission.”
This man is a warrior for democracy who never makes noise about what he has done for the struggle or what he has lost because of it.
It makes me cry when men like him are persecuted, lose everything, and we fail to even talk about their persecution and suffering!
Timba shouldn’t be in jail for meeting with young people at his private residence.
The captured and shameless courts in Harare must release this man and the 70 others!
They were beaten up. Some can’t even walk, and yet ZANU-PF wants to join the @commonwealthsec while doing this!
Remember Timba in your prayers. Remember the 70 young people who were arrested with him.
This shouldn’t happen in a democratic country;m, well, Zimbabwe is a dictatorship!
It's gut-wrenching to think of the injustices Timba and the 70 are facing, and the brazen abuse of power by the authorities.
It is sad that the recognised CCC faction is quiet while Timba and the 70 others are being persecuted!
We cannot let their stories be forgotten or overlooked.

H.E. DR NANGOLO MBUMBA
ACTING PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA.
I rest my case. A whole electoral body @ZECzim is refusing to let you know how ED got his purported 52%. They plucked numbers out of thin air. They have no polling station returns nor V11s. They just want you to believe them!
Today, I am compelled to write with an anger that burns deep within my soul. The recent events that unfolded in Zimbabwe, leading to my abrupt deportation, are not just a reflection of bad governance, but a stark indication of the lengths to which the government will go
Imagine if we make use of that water surface area on Lake Chivero, Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼, Lake Turkana in Kenya 🇰🇪 or Lake Malawi 🇲🇼 to put solar panels.
Is it far fetched? let’s discuss @noblehara@MakeItKenya@ZimbabweReview@Min_of_IC
Zimbabwe’s election commission @ZECzim held its first briefing for Election Observers today.
The media was banned from the event, but here is the full video of the event.
@ZECzim said there are 6,6 million registered voters in Zimbabwe for the 2023 elections.
