NEW: Karen Bass's office said they're "unable" to send me the daily sanitation schedules that are sent out to service providers & sanitation crews. Disappointing to see the Bass administration following in the footsteps of Garcetti. Public records belong to the public!!! @LATACO
How did a thriving comfortably-in-the-green org like IDA run this large a deficit in a year?
I'll start. By hiring union-busting law firms and a litany unqualified contractors
My friend Maria runs Community Kitchens in Oakland and does tremendous work getting nourishing and quality meals to orgs supporting unhoused folks in the Bay Area. It’s like #homeymademeals but they partner with restaurants. Please help us signal boost this post ⬇️
I am not sure what will happen to the magazine but I know, surely, it won't be the same. Only bc some ppl (yes, plural) chose to chase their egos instead of being accountable, responsible human beings and decided it was better to play blame games and a media circus.
Not going to add much except, please remember the people who doubled down in his defence, trolled us, abused us, and drove us out of our jobs. With no apology in sight.

@IDAorg why have I had several of your members reach out to me to say that my name is still listed as the Membership Mgr signatory on emails? I resigned six months ago! Very misleading. Get it together, IDA.
Just a reminder for those attending Getting Real 22. Ask the leadership why and how 18 out of 23 ppl quit and what are they doing better. Push them so @IDAWorkersUnion has a fair contact soon, question them on their union busting, ask them why they hired Weinstein's lawyers
For those who did choose that life and never knew "enough" to take sides, do your homework. Pl dont make workers do the additional labour of educating you. It's all online, you know everyone, seek people out, ask questions. You dont make lazy films so dont be a lazy ally!
As excited as I am about Getting Real 22, I am also very tired of PR exercises that continue to mission wash IDA and its terrible treatment of staff. Those participating in the conference should raise these Qs bc the leadership is allegedly open to this conversation
Incredibly proud of my friend @Bedatri. Honored I got to work with you for as long as I did and fight with you side by side. Cheers to your next chapter! Everyone else, please read and continue to #StandwithIDAWorkers
After 16 months that feel like a few lifetimes, today was my last day at IDA as Managing Editor of #DocumentaryMag I am the 18th person to quit this year out of the 23 ppl who were on staff in Jan 2022 (long ass 🧵incoming)
It is deeply troubling that LA politicians are comparing housing justice organizers, who are literally saving lives through their advocacy, to Jan 6 insurrectionists. In doing so, they are inciting violence, along with pushing policies that are violent towards the poor.
Those in power need to remember who they’re doing this for and treating its staff — the ones executing the work —with respect along the way. The easy route never pays well.
