@Kewkamon@PhysInHistory They are not unrelated. As the host is not allowed to reveal your door and neither which has the car, he is basically indicating where the car is whenever your first choice is wrong, which occurs 2/3 of the time.
@PhysInHistory As you see above, each non-selected door is just 1/2 likely to be removed when your choice is the same that has the car, while each is 1=100% likely to be removed when the other non-selected one has the car.
@PhysInHistory Suppose you select #1. The possible cases with their chances are:
1) D1 has car and host opens D2 -> 1/3 x 1/2 = 1/6
2) D1 has car and host opens D3 -> 1/3 x 1/2 = 1/6
3) D2 has car and host opens D3 -> 1/3 x 1 = 1/3
4) D3 has car and host opens D2 -> 1/3 x 1 = 1/3
@dlbohin@P_Rabitt@PhysInHistory As you see above, each non-selected door is 1/2 likely to be removed when yours is which has the car, but it's 1=100% likely to be removed when the other non-selected one has the car.

@anagram987@PhysInHistory If the host directly told you from the beginning which has the car, then it would have 100% chance despite the the 3 would be available. He is like if he was also telling which is the winner, but only lying if you got it right at first.
@anagram987@PhysInHistory No, the important point is how often each door has the car, not how many there are. We know the one left by the host is correct 2/3 of the time because he knows the locations and is avoiding to reveal the prize, so if the player did not pick it, he had to leave it in the other.
@dlbohin@PhysInHistory No, because the host is not choosing randomly; he is deliberately avoiding to reveal the car. So, if you fail your first choice, which occurs 2/3 of the time, you can be sure that the other left by him will be the winner.
Desde la intervención de Trump:
- Maduro preso
Viva Venezuela Libre Carajo! #VVLC
