Who & what is Irish amateur golf info
For those of you new here I’m Garry Murphy a man with a passion for amateur golf I run this in my spare time with the hopes of giving others an insight into the world of amateur.
Over the past 2 years / almost 3 seasons of golf I have traveled the length & breadth of the country covering elite amateur golf.
But why?
Golf has been a passion of my for long time and this was the starting point going to watch some events I was taken back by the standard of the golf at local level while keeping an eye on how some players were doing on the national/ international level these tournaments peaked my interest. Then the world amateur team championship came to Ireland in 2018 once I attended this the bug to follow amateur tournaments grew.
Over the next year and a bit I was keen to track golfers but this at times was hard to do with limited information as my frustration grow with this the idea of doing something became stronger
( don’t complain about others not doing what you’re not willing too)
So as the long days of covid came and I had time on my hands I looked into this idea some more and the page was born.
So it started as a site to post links on Twitter this was the only plan at the time. Roll on Munster stroke play of 21 as it was close to me I popped down for a look posted some swing videos walked the fairways watched some incredible golf and the thought I came away with was I need to do some small part to help promote this.
Since then this is what I’ve set out to do promoting amateur golf as time has gone on the event count grows with over 20 tournaments covered in 2022.
It’s crazy to of imagined this is how it would have went yet here we are my weekends are now spent watching other play the game I love at the highest level ( Yes my golf has taken a back seat) but hey that’s not important I will break 80 at some point in my life again 😂
The more I do this the passion for it grows which is great but has led me down some paths I’d never had imagined tracking players all over the globe while keeping others informed about the game let’s keep it rolling
If you’ve gotten this far could you share this post 🤝
