Happy birthday to the Cisse nonuplets, who turn five today! 🥳

On 4 May 2021, nine children were born to Halima Cisse (Mali) in the Ain Borja clinic in Casablanca, Morocco. This is the first known incidence of nonpulets surviving birth.

As global mechanisms such as the Fund for Responding to #Loss and #Damage continue to evolve, the gap between climate impacts and available financing remains significant.

In commemoration of #WorldEarthDay2026, DCA was proud to be featured on @BBCAfrica , helping bring this reality into sharper focus.

In the feature, communities in #Chesongoch, Elgeyo Marakwet County share their lived experiences following devastating mudslides in November 2025, which buried homes, farmland, and livelihoods within minutes.

Although immediate response efforts, through @DCA_Kenya's Humanitarian Crisis Fund and the Mudslide reponse project implemented by @ADSNorthRift , are gradually helping affected households stabilize, the voices from the ground are a stark reminder that humanitarian funding alone is not sufficient when #climate impacts are this severe and long-lasting. There is an urgent need for predictable, accessible, and adequately scaled loss and damage finance to support meaningful recovery for frontline communities.

#Uganda authorities have assured the public that there are no plans to shut down the internet during the upcoming election. “As of now, there is no resolution to switch off the internet,” Uganda Communications Commission Executive Director Nyombi Thembo told Capital Radio.

#Nigeria authorities in #Niger state say armed men have attacked a local market in the town of Kasuwan-Daji snd killed over 30 people. Police say the attackers came from a nearby forest within a national park. They set parts of the market on fire, looted shops, and stole goods.

Reports from #Sudan say multiple drone attacks have hit the central state of North Kordofan. Sudan’s electricity company says a power station in the state capital, El-Obeid, was struck on Sunday morning, disrupting electricity supply in the city, which is controlled by the army.

#M23 rebels in the east of the #DRCongo have denied accusations that their actions are causing a humanitarian catastrophe. Nearly 250,000 people have been displaced by the fighting this year and thousands have just fled the town of #Minova which the M23 captured a few hours ago.
