@G0ffThew Bloodbending is one of those things so awful there's no justification. You reach inside someone and force their body to do your will as they are stuck watching. IMO it's more horrific than rape.
@FriendBreakfast@G0ffThew I played it for the first time just a few years ago, and it was... not good. Relevant to your point, there was a whole section with Shadow Temple where Navi complained that you weren't in it while collecting the things you needed to get in. It was unbelievably obnoxious.
@G0ffThew Yugioh is even more so. The Japanese opening is... fine, but the English opening goes so hard, even with the goofy stuff in it. That bassline, man.
@shotgundotdev@JesseCox And AI is like driving a Mad Max car to work when it's within walking distance. You can argue some slight benefit, but you're doing way more damage than is worth it.
@SLMavsFanBurner@00CLANK@G0ffThew As if having existing Japanese voice acting would stop these companies. NGNL0 already has a real dub, and they still made this monstrosity.
@TrailblazingVi1@G0ffThew And even if it had been an extra finger, those are nothing new in that type of transition animation. Plenty of older shows have them too.
@RAUTTING@G0ffThew I'm pretty sure you're talking about Kiniro Mosaic, and that hasn't been dubbed into English. Iirc the VA has spent a bunch of time in the UK, but she is native Japanese.
@G0ffThew Man, that number is SO far off. It's only about 1/10th of that even IF you count the crowdfunded stuff for the movie, and that would still be a disingenuous number.
@G0ffThew Off-screen, yes. On-screen, no, at least in the main manga. Scenes from other characters' perspectives tend to have a particular purpose for them, so it's not something that would ever come up.
@G0ffThew The most common dub "problem" these days is that it's a lot harder to ignore cringiness and bad writing in speech you understand than in writing. The problems were there all along, people just notice because of the dub.
@FlamencoTV_YT@G0ffThew As someone who's seen it both ways, your problem with the dub is probably that it takes stuff that's supposed to be cringey, but it funny to us as English speakers, and makes it actually cringey again.
