It's disheartening to hear journalists and others debate whether character still matters for the Presidency.
It does.
No one is perfect. Sometimes we stumble. But to lie, cheat, and steal? To care for no one but yourself?
We don’t have to settle.
Never did I think I'd see the day when women were one court ruling away from being able to receive emergency care. Women’s rights, women’s health, and even women’s lives are under attack. Today, it was access to emergency care. Tomorrow, it could be access to birth control or fertility treatments. The best way to channel our anger and fight back is to join together, raise our voices, and exercise our political power by voting this November.
Why am I sharing this photo today, on debate day? If you know me, you know my daughter Jaime loved to dance. This is Jaime looking for a snack, always dancing. Because of gun violence, incredible and silly moments like this are what I miss most. Tonight, there will be a Presidential debate. President Biden through words and through real and meaningful actions continues to direct his administration to stop gun violence so that a dad like me gets to watch his children grow up. This election is about more than what we hope for the future, it is also about what we hope not to lose. Because of gun violence, far too many Americans like me have lost a lot. This week was the two-year anniversary of the Safer Communities Act and also this week Gun Violence was declared a public health issue. The Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which only exists because we elected President Biden and Vice President Harris, continues to do great work. Because of this tainted Supreme Court, gun violence prevention has been made harder than is should be and because of this tainted Supreme Court far too many Americans have lost freedoms that they once had. The demented convicted felon wants people like me to get over things like gun violence and the things we love most and lost. That will not happen. President Biden has earned our vote. I look forward to watching the debate tonight and getting to vote to reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris.
I'm thrilled to say that my new book, "Something Lost, Something Gained," will be out in September.
It's about friendship, aging, and marriage; our politics and our democracy; the threats we face as a country, and how we can all work together to shape a future to be proud of.
I can't wait to hit the road this fall to talk about it all with you in person.

Livestock factory farms are a mess in Iowa. Floodwaters inundate waste pits. State warns: stay out of waters rife with bacteria. Five counties -- sites of 900 CAFOs that produce 23.6 billion pounds of filth annually. Discharges -- Clay, Lyon, Sioux, Dickinson, O’Brien and Osceola
Three years ago, I had the privilege of being promoted to Colonel on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
Had the Trump administration not retaliated and destroyed my career I would still be serving today in uniform.
Now as the Democratic nominee in #VA07, I am ready to serve our nation in a new way.
Aileen Cannon's peers strongly encouraged her to recuse herself.
She refused, indefinitely delaying the trial with ridiculous hearings, hostility to Jack Smith, slow responses, and biased rulings.
Drop a 🩵& Repost ♻️ if you agree Judge Cannon MUST be removed.
A mother talking to a mother about children.
In this case, here is @VP talking to my wife Jennifer about our daughter Jaime. I will never forget that VP Harris came to Parkland to meet with our families and to tour the building where 17, including my daughter were killed. The Office of Gun Violence Prevention and her leadership of it is doing amazing work. It continues if we vote, it stops if we do not. PLEASE VOTE TO REELECT PRESIDENT BIDEN AND VP HARRIS. THE WORK NEEDS TO CONTINUE.
On this tenth Father's Day without you, I'm remembering your incredible thoughtfulness and compassion for others. Thank you for showing me what it truly means to be unconditionally loving and kind. I miss you and love you today and every day.
Today, the demolition of the school building where my daughter and 16 others were killed began. Also today, the radical Supreme Court just guaranteed that the next school shooting will be far more deadly. Instead of 17 killed, you may hear 100 or more. If you are horrified, VOTE!!!!!
Sotomayor cited each of her conservative colleagues in her dissent. She highlighted past arguments they had made in favor of respecting congressional intent, rather than imposing their own view on something—skewering their hypocrisy in Friday’s ruling. https://t.co/0YBaI72g96
At some point, there are no more second chances, unintentional oversights, or any other excuses. Supreme Court Justices have the job of making sure the rest of us follow the law. They should too.
“…the USGS found about 5% more discharge in the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers than the long-term average in May. Nitrate and phosphorus contribute to algal blooms, and in May, those loads were 7% and 22% above the long-term averages…” https://t.co/oXs4qQ3Eua
For the 1st time in a decade, a school district is folding up shop. Get ready for more of this, thanks to a failure of state leaders to support public education.

My Republican colleagues will support Donald Trump no matter what he does.
No matter how violent. No matter how destructive.
They will always have his back. Because they are simply too scared and too weak to do otherwise.
Just put this big fella down an hour ago. We rescued him 7yrs ago. He had been severely abused, he was addled, but he was the sweetest dog I’ve ever had. We gave him 7yrs of love. But it’s never easy to say goodbye. Max, you were a good boy. Now go run through that open field.
Just finished listening to our President speaking in Europe on the 80th anniversary of D-Day. An incredible speech in defense of Democracy and Freedom. Thank you @POTUS. America and the world are well served with you as our President.
I'm a 59 year old heterosexual white woman. Birth control and abortion bans won't affect ME, personally. Neither will discrimination against LGBTQ's or nonwhites. Here's the thing. I don't want to live in a FASCIST country where ANY citizens are OPPRESSED. I vote DEMOCRAT.
