I’d be very surprised if the Mateus Fernandes deal / hold up is not the total fee as much as it is the structure & up front payment, because of West Ham’s financial urgency & what Manchester United want to do in other deals.

Elliot Anderson deal an example, City paid up front. This is not common - but something they can do because of well.. years of cooking the books. United can’t do it because they’re still trying to fix the finances.

Much like Bryan Mbeumo last summer, the structure matters. It’s essential. If they have to pay more over the long term but strike a balance on how much cash is up front, I’d be willing to bet (very confidently) it’s significant.

Otherwise, we’d already know what’s happening publicly. The assumption that absolutely nothing is happening remains laughable.
