So grateful to the @w_baby_bank today for hosting my workshop on communicating human milk research.
We had some amazing conversations, with visual minutes by the wonderful Eddy from @AnnaGeyer_NP .
The main recommendations were:
🍼 Make information on human milk widely available from early pregnancy
🍼 Remember different experiences and needs
🍼 Provide chances to ask questions
🍼 Provide all information so people can make their own decisions
It was wonderful to organise this event with @JosephLevermore on behalf of the Researchers' Society where we got to hear from incredible scientists from both @UKHSA and @ImperialSPH
I'm looking forward to doing an invited seminar on the statistical side of my research at the @Bruneluni@BrunelMaths department next Wednesday 4 October at 1pm. It would be great to see any Brunel staff, students or alumni there to catch up!

QRISK3, a cardiovascular disease prediction model derived and validated using primary care data, is often used in the UK Biobank cohort. Just published is my work with @Oxford_NDPH to externally validate this model in UK Biobank for future researchers ⬇️

We found that QRISK3 had moderate discrimination for UK Biobank participants, but this declines with age and that QRISK3 systematically over predicts cardiovascular disease risk in UK Biobank.
New review shows low emission zones (LEZ/#ULEZ) can improve health, with strongest evidence on reduced heart attacks & strokes.
