Wellcome to room 0661, zone of madness and fun # @/Nyatci alt account ✨ 30, Any pronouns , 18+ account, 🔞minors DNI. occasional MDZS Fanartist and fic writer.
I’ve written all my fics, any mistakes and/or flaws are my own; Unfinished fics are just meals I haven’t finished cooking because the oven (aka my brain) broke. All this to say: Ai can suck my balls.
@awfandomwhy I write because I enjoy the process , but I share for the sense of community. Same way as I read for enjoyment but comment to let writers know that their efforts have brought me joy. We are social beings who crave connection, especially over things we are passionate about.
Two things can be true at the same time: You can write (fics) for yourself and still feel disappointed if no one engages with it; Imagine throwing a party and having no one show up.
I don't think "write for yourself" is a good way of putting things
You /must/ enjoy the process of writing, getting an idea, fleshing it out, choosing your words
But it's ridiculous to dismiss the rush of joy one gets when another human being is touched by something you created
The best/worst part about updating a fic for me is the fact that for the next 24 hours imma be compulsive refreshing that ao3 page like a demented human just in case the kudo/comment number goes up and I can get a serotonin boost like a crack addict getting a fix.
too. So ya know, in case anyone wonders why my latest fic/s look a little bit different and start wondering if I’m using AI, the answer is: I’m not. Carry on.
Btw, not that it needs to be said as it’s clearly pinned in my profile that I don’t use AI nor do I condone its use when creating written or digital artworks; that being said, I had a moot beta one of my fics once and they used the dash em comma and now I’m kinda used to using it
It's always fun to read multiple fanfics from the same author, because you start noticing their little quirks, their writing style, and the specific words and phrases they use. You can also kind of gauge their personality through their writing
If I’m re-reading and I find a mistake, I just edit it and carry on. It’s my knife and I’ll polish it if I want to ✨ also like, if you don’t love what you write then, why write it at all?
i’m not weird for liking my own fics right??? i do reread them and enjoy them as a reader… it doesn’t feel THAT cringe… its jus the mistakes and awkward pace that make me wince and it makes me think like “huh i prob could have phrased if i thought about it longer”
I wouldn't consider myself a longfic writer, I mostly do oneshots, but just from being around for a decade (christ) on ao3, the trends I've noticed are
1. readers these days don't leave comments on unfinished fics, leading to lower motivation for writers to continue them
