So, I was going through some things #Ramayana related, & I really wanted to right this:
1. Although Ramayana is filmed using the ARRI LF, which is limited to 4.5K, it also utilizes a Vicom Valkyrie Mo-Cap rig over 40 cameras, each with a 5K resolution.
These represent the resolution of individual assets, & when multiple assets are placed in a scene with a VFX background, the resolution typically ranges from 4K to 6.5K, obv changing scene to scene. This is a WIP print that fluctuates based on the transfer requirements between VFX teams. Resolutions as high as 8K may be employed for specific supersampled effects that involve significant motion.
For all 3D films, this work print is ultimately reduced to 2K or 4K for computational efficiency. This practice also applies to Avatar 3, regardless of the final theatrical resolution.
2. Filming at 48 FPS or higher is a cinematographical and directorial decision. Same goes for Aspect Ratios.
If one were to argue that Ramayana at 24 frames per second is inferior to Avatar at 48 frames per second, then by that same logic, Avatar at 48 frames per second should be inferior to Gemini Man at 60 frames per second.
This is not necessarily the case. Both Gemini Man and Avatar carry their own distinct visual languages. In fact, many viewers experienced an unnecessary stutter due to Avatar's 48 FPS, an issue that is eliminated by Ramayana's 24 FPS.
