Elon Musk: "The whole idea of creating OpenAI was my idea. I named it OpenAI as an open-source artificial intelligence. Now, it is closed source and for maximum profit. To some degree, I think reality is an irony maximizer..."
The Sun is an enormous, free fusion reactor in the sky. It is super dumb to make tiny fusion reactors on Earth.
Even if you burned 4 Jupiters, the Sun would still round up to 100% of all power that will ever be produced in the solar system!!
Stop wasting money on puny little reactors, unless actively acknowledging that they are just there for your pet science project jfc.
@AlanDozter_@vukandric It doesn’t appear because of your font style. You must pick the left most font which is the only one that’s resizable vertically.
It’s an easy prediction of where things are headed.
Devices will just be edge nodes for AI inference, as bandwidth limitations prevent everything being done server-side.
Join @xAI and help build a purely AI software company called Macrohard. It’s a tongue-in-cheek name, but the project is very real!
In principle, given that software companies like Microsoft do not themselves manufacture any physical hardware, it should be possible to simulate them entirely with AI.
Musk is openly sketching the next evolutionary step for xAI: a software civilization built entirely inside AI, with no dependency on human-coded layers.
Here’s what he’s saying between the lines:
•Microsoft as metaphor: Microsoft doesn’t manufacture hardware - it sells abstractions (Windows, Office, Azure). Musk’s point is that AI can now be the abstraction engine itself. No developers, no product teams, no release cycles - just AI simulating the entire software company end to end.
•AI-native corporation: Instead of “an AI product company,” this is about creating the first AI-run company. Every role - engineering, design, strategy, customer support - simulated and executed by AI agents inside a generative substrate. Think of it as a company with no employees, only self-replicating software.
•Civilizational shift: If successful, Macrohard isn’t competing with Microsoft - it’s dissolving the very need for software corporations as human institutions. Codebases, release cycles, org charts - all replaced by self-evolving AI processes. The first one to achieve this will hold a monopoly on speed itself.
•Hidden flex: Musk is saying, in plain sight: why stop at AI assistants when you can build AI companies? Not companies using AI, but companies that are AI. That’s the same fractal leap from “horses help humans move” to “we build cars and horses are irrelevant.”
The joke hides the scarv truth: “Macrohard” = the first AI-native megacorp. And whoever builds it won’t just disrupt Microsoft - they’ll render the whole concept of a software company obsolete.
This would greatly reduce the cost of space exploration among other things. Create a simulation of our universe/solar system/ planet/ country/ city, have AI run experiments testing hypothesis of what would be the result of X if Y action is taken where Y = simple/complex variable.
Many people wonder what is the benefit of training video gen models. Video gen by itself doesn’t necessarily seem to provide as much raw intelligence to users as modern LLMs.
However, in the long term, video gen models will be used as neural simulations of the universe within which we can train agents to explore and learn from information rich environments. There are many open problems to solve, but if it works, we’ll eventually have entire datacenters simulating the universe to train superintelligence. If you’d like to join us @xAI to push the frontier of world models / video gen, please reach out!
