One thing that the Dodgers found out about Zach Root on Saturday in the Spring Breakout game is that he is a DAWG. The first thing that sticks out about him is his mentality and the way he dominates the mound. The mound is his, and the hitter is in the way of him doing what he wants to do, and that makes them a PROBLEM.

A PROBLEM that pitches to obliterate, not just beat.

If you've watched any SEC baseball, you know a couple of things. There's GREAT talent, and the programs in that Conference try to intimidate. So, to be a Friday Night Starter, you HAVE to love that type of environment, where the competitive elements are flowing, and you're gonna be top DAWG.

That's #1... which goes to ALL of the intangibles.

Then, he's very good! That's obvious by the fact that he was the Dodgers #1 pick last summer out of Arkansas. He started at East Carolina, then became a Razorback and turned himself into their Ace, known as the Friday Night Starter in college. He grew up a Dodgers fan, and a HUGE Clayton Kershaw fan, and patterned his BIG curveball after the King.

2 Seam, 4 Seam, circle change, spiked curveball, and slider/cutter hybrid, so he has a full mix, he knows how to execute, he is at his best under pressure, and we saw ALL of that on Saturday in the Spring Breakout Game.
