Now is peak season for firefly viewing across much of the eastern and central United States. Warm, humid evenings, especially after rain, from dusk to about 11:00 p.m. are your best chances to see them. The darker your fields and backyards are, the more likely you are to see the light show.
@Seppie123456@HeidiBriones You’re not asking me but I’m answering anyways: Beaverton, Hillsboro, Happy Valley, Tualatin, Tigard are all fantastic suburbs to look at that are next to the Portland proper. Wilsonville is good too, just a little south. If you want smaller but 1 hour out, Salem isn’t bad.
Wowwwww!!! What a day!!!
We went to Shaniko and Antelope to see some Oregon “ghost towns”, super cool history to read about. Topped it off by visiting the painted hills, which I had also never seen. They’re jaw droppingly gorgeous!
@HeidiBriones Tbh, Oregon stresses me out now that I’m used to 70 mph highways. I wish our highways did 70 mph lolol!
But, I still won’t drive in Seattle, I make my husband do it bc I haaaaaate the 4-5 lane freeways lol! Also, the 5-6 way stop sign intersections are crazy asf to me.
@Mr_MS503 Portland is still fun (I’m a city girl too) BUT! I love this state. Born and raised here, it’s so great that there’s a high desert in the east with beautiful sites, mountains galore for sites and skiing, a beautiful valley, AND a coast. I mean, we really have it all!!
I’m a born and raised Oregonian and had never been to Crater Lake - so we changed that!
Holy cow, this place is incredible. Pictures don’t do it justice. Perfect day to visit and there were SO many butterflies! It was magical!
