More minors are getting arrested in crimes as serious as gangrape, a reflection of the hate against girls and women and incel culture in real life.
School girl from Narsingi was gangraped by 3 including a minor in Hyderabad. She was reported missing and rescued after 36 hours from a flat.
If this incident has made men think that if even something this small will be escalated in a way where they have to be afraid that their social standing will be lost, good. It is a fraction of the fear that women are taught every day.
Dear India,
As an Indian woman, I have never felt this hopeless in my own country.
My motherland.
Every day, the headlines feel like a warning.
Women raped in police stations.
Judges granting bail to rapists.
Government garlanding molesters.
The institutions meant to protect us no longer feel like safeguards.
They feel like predators.
Or worse, accomplices.
When I speak about this online, I am threatened with rape.
And instead of outrage, I am told this is “normal”.
That this is the price of speaking.
That fear is something women should learn to live with.
At what point did fear become the default condition of womanhood in India?
I feel like I have lost my voice.
My autonomy.
My right to exist without permission.
As if my safety is conditional.
As if my dignity is negotiable.
But dear India, remember this.
I exist.
I matter.
I am one of 700 million women in this country.
But how many more of us have to be raped, threatened, or killed
Before you finally care?
"Men's rights activists" never ever campaign for boys who have been raped, boys who have been beaten, abused and raped by their parents, prison rape, military violence or any men who have suffered violence in general. All they do is legitimize violence against women and girls
People in Kolkata organising the protest tomorrow: please reach out with posters or hashtags or anything you need me to amplify. You can send in videos from the ground as well. I will help as much as I can.
Manizha Talash, who was born in Afghanistan before fleeing the country in 2021 after the Taliban returned to power, revealed a bright blue cape with the words "FREE AFGHAN WOMEN" during her performance for the Refugee Olympic Team
Under Taliban rule, Afghanistan became the most repressive country in the world for women’s rights, according to the United Nations. The group has closed secondary schools for girls, banned women from attending university, restricted their travel without a male chaperone, and banned them from public spaces such as parks and gyms
Talash was disqualified for displaying political slogan on her attire, but she believes it was worth it for her message to be seen by the world
Hellos, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
If you are a content creator, commentator or journalist on Twitter, Instagram or Youtube, it is very likely that the Broadcasting Bill is going to affect you massively.
We don't know how yet because @AshwiniVaishnaw's ministry has NOT made the current draft public.
So some of us creators have gotten together to write a letter to MIB, asking them to make the bill public. The idea is simple: As creators, we are stakeholders and we need to know what the government is doing to 'regulate' our content.
Here is the letter: https://t.co/hKMjuIvxZl
Please fill this form if you agree & to endorse this letter: https://t.co/kSKBKVzLcq
Please do SHARE this with any other content creators who you think would be affected by this. As creators, we need to unite because this is a question of our livelihoods.
