RtF Director Adam was touched to receive this lovely card from Principle Joe & Deputy Principle Kiran on behalf of everyone at @oasiswoodview
We're celebrating a year together that included installing a History Learning Garden with the children
We're so excited about next year!
Congratulations to our new partner school @OAShortHeath on their brand new polytunnel - our 19th installed by our amazing friends @FirstTunnels!
We're looking forward to an EXTRAORDINARY year with you - delivering curriculum linked learning in the natural world!
Y4 @fourdwellingspa investigating the topic 'Deserts'.
The very dry weather gave us pause for thought - what life must be like when water is scarce?
Children constructed an ancient water drawing device - a Shaduf - still used by many around the world.
@MrsM_Court@LiftSchools
Y3 @fourdwellingspa are investigating Climates and Biomes as part of their geography topic.
As naturalists, they undertook a scientific survey today of the trees and plants that make up the ecosystem of the micro-biome that is their school!
@MrsM_Court@LiftSchools
Y3 @fourdwellingspa investigating Rocks & Soil in science.
As geologists they considered the ingredients that make soil - like ingredients in a cake!
They foraged for the elements to make it - but its not straightforward - we need 500 years for it to break down!

Marking May Day with Y3 @fourdwellingspa.
For hundreds of years, May 1st was an important date in the calendar. Work ceased & communities came together to celebrate the spring & summer.
We engaged in some of the activities & games they did on the village green!
@MrsM_Court
Y5 @OasisBoulton - Vikings in Britain.
Most Vikings were illiterate - but some employed a simple runic alphabet that they considered magical & held good fortune.
Children used modern & traditional tools creating runic charms from ash - the most important tree in the Viking world!
Y3 @fourdwellingspa investigate Indus Valley Civilisations.
Cylinder seals proved ownership of property. The cylinder would be worn as jewellery & then held against any item bearing the same imprint.
Every child carved their own, unique design & rolled them in clay.
@MrsM_Court
Y6 @oasiswoodview working on the landscaping of their curriculum learning garden.
Travelling back 2K years to break rocks & lay them as kerb stones on their authentic Roman road feature.
They even found time to 'mock-up' how their firepit might eventually look!
@HerminderChanna
Loads of the Trust family will be back at Roots To Fruit tomorrow, and they love it! However Jonathan, who works there, bought them all a wonderful present at Christmas, which they are modelling here. Fantastic, aren't they!? @rootstofruit202
'Living Things & Environments' science topic this half-term, the mighty Y4's @fourdwellingspa have been investigating the life and times of the humble earthworm.
Busting myths & gathering the facts we've discovered that old Wiggly-Woo really is King of the Beasts!
@MrsM_Court
Y3 @fourdwellingspa learning about the Indus Valley Civilisations. They were great innovators and among the first to domesticate animals!
Children made Bronze Age wattle fences from willow to contain their livestock. Beautiful, functional and still in use today!
@MrsM_Court
Fabulous Y3 @fourdwellingspa thinking about the approaching winter solstice on the 21st December reconstructing Stonehenge.
Armed with a blueprint of the monument and learning how to use a compass ensured their models were aligned correctly with the rising sun!
@MrsM_Court
Solid. Liquid. Gas.
The fabulous Y4's @fourdwellingspa are investigating States of Matter in science this half-term.
Why do some solids float in liquid - and why do some float?
There's only one way to find out!
Design, build, and then race your own boat!
@MrsM_Court
The mighty Y2's @fourdwellingspa are thinking about 'Extreme Environments' in science. π
Using moisture meters, they investigated the changes in sand before and after its exposed to high heat - and discovered the effects of evaporation!
@MrsM_Court
Thanks to our friends @FirstTunnels for their amazing rebuild @oasiswoodview today.
The old polytunnel suffered vandalism over the summer - and salvaging many of the materials - they managed to relocate it in the Learning Garden we're installing at the Academy!
@OasisAcademies
Y4 @AbbeyPrimary thinking about where their food comes from.
Identifying wheat seed and milling using traditional methods is harder than they imagined!
Cultivation of this plant gave rise to ancient civilisations. These processes are still a daily reality for millions of people.
CONGRATULATIONS to our long-term partners @OasisBoulton for achieving Level 5 in @RHSSchools awards!
'The Garden of Myth, Magic & Medicine' was designed and installed by Y6 students over the '23-'24 academic year - opening to the community on graduation day.
@OasisAcademies
Y4's @fourdwellingspa are learning about the Romans.
We considered the impact they made - we live with their legacy in lots of ways to this day.
Apollo the rabbit appeared to tell us that before the Romans brought his ancestors here there were no rabbits in Britain!
