A heartwarming homage when @PlacidoDomingo returned to watch a baseball game at the stadium in Los Angeles which had been the scene of one of the most iconic concerts of The Three Tenors. "Welcome back to Dodger Stadium, opera singer Plácido Domingo," said a tannoy announcement as the smiling Spanish star waved to the crowds. The concert during the Soccer World Cup in 1994 had brought the tenors' musical magic to the United States and millions all over the world after the massive success of their first show in Rome in 1990. The announcement recounted how the tenors honoured Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly, both of whom had been present in the audience.
Three cheers for our favourite singer and for Dodger Stadium.

When @PlacidoDomingo sings in his home country Spain people fall over each other to secure tickets. His concert in Santander tonight is sold out and the few tickets released this morning were snapped up in minutes. A long queue formed outside the Palacio de Festivales and even when there were no tickets left people stayed on hoping for returns for the concert in the 50th anniversary year of the Spanish star's debut in Santander. One woman was so excited to have got hold of a ticket that she left her mobile phone behind on the counter and later came running back. "The public is the judge of our careers from beginning to end," said Domingo in an interview with the local newspaper "El Diario Montañés". True words!

The great Spaniard @PlacidoDomingo , zarzuela in the wine region of La Rioja and the love showered on him by his compatriots. "Olé, olé", they whooped as Domingo sang of the dashing bullfighter Raphael in "El gato montés" with his colleagues Sabina Puertolas and Xabier Anduaga. "We're so proud to have him here," said a spectator at Rioja Forum in Logroño who was seeing Domingo perform live for the first time. The opera and zarzuela gala was part of the La Rioja Festival run by guitarrist Pablo Sainz-Villegas, who made a surprise appearance and accompanied Domingo and Anduaga in encores. Sixty-five years to the day since playing his first major operatic role the inimitable @PlacidoDomingo showed his magic touch once again with an acclaimed recital in the German city of Wiesbaden. A huge crowd awaited him after the performance with Guanqun Yu and pianist James Vaughan. "Thank you because you were so warm as the public today," Domingo said in the ornate hall of the Hessisches Staatstheater. Always promoting young singers, he presented the evening's Chinese soprano and Operalia laureate, joking he hoped she would also sing for 50 years. After signing the guest book of the city he set to work giving autographs. Who would have thought that the 20-year-old tenor who debuted Alfredo in "La Traviata" in Mexico on 19th May 1961 would still be pulling the crowds and selling out theatres at the age of 85? Three cheers for the miracle who is Maestro Domingo.

"Travelling around the world I meet many Spaniards and my heart skips a beat when they greet me and we talk about Spain," @PlacidoDomingo says. "It's a feeling of family, a special affection." In an interview with the Spanish digital platform @e_fascinante the singer spoke of his passion for his country, nurtured by his early years in Madrid and the zarzuela music he later heard every day in Mexico in the theatre company of his parents. "Zarzuela tells stories about daily life, values and cultural riches which should not be lost," said Domingo, who in his long career has done more than anyone else to make the Spanish genre famous all over the world. "A country which promotes culture is a winner because culture is the essence of beauty," he said. His connection with Spain is profound. "My roots are here and when I think of Spain, a thousand images emerge, like the afternoon light on the buildings, the scent of flowers at night, the shimmer of the sun on the sea, the bustle of people in the streets. "Spain has given me a lot and ... I believe that I have also given a lot to my beloved Spain," he said.

Impressions from Marta Domingo's stunning production of "La Traviata" in its last performance this season at the Royal Opera House in Muscat. Violetta (Juliana Grigoryan) and Alfredo (Yusif Eyvazov) beautifully dressed at the opulent party where they first meet. A Spanish touch with the dancers of Compañía Antonio Gades. The emotive duet about Paris fated to remain a dream. Just four days after a magnificent "Macbeth" in Paris @PlacidoDomingo worked his magic again at a concert in Frankfurt, earning deafening applause which seemed to have no end. Join in the cheering at the imposing Alte Oper (Old Opera House) where 2,400 people listened to Giordano, Verdi and Puccini arias, zarzuela romanzas and operetta with Domingo, Maria José Siri and the Baden-Baden Philharmonie conducted by Jordi Bernàcer. Congratulations for a superb evening! Next stop Berlin on 11th April.

@PlacidoDomingo donated his part in the proceeds of a concert in Bucharest, Romania, this evening, to aid for the victims of the floods in Spain. Visibly moved, Domingo said that in the last few days his heart was "in my country, near my people" living a "devastating tragedy". "With all my heart I want to dedicate this evening to the victims and their families, and offer my participation in this concert to the aid which is so necessary in Spain." A true Spaniard!
