A huge thank you to our Ambassadors Rebecca Faulkner and @rosa_tw_ who are running 100 consecutive days to raise money for us. We’re so grateful to you both and all our fundraisers. If you would like to support them you can visit: https://t.co/NEgzogTVhM
Myself, and my wonderful friend Rebecca Faulkner, produced some graphics that detail the support we have provided one and other with during lockdowns. Predominantly chats and wine...
Our Ambassadors @rosa_tw_ and Rebecca Faulkner talk (and draw) about their experiences through the pandemic and how they have helped each other in different ways https://t.co/NEgzogTVhM. Share your own experiences with us by tagging us and using #MyThirdLockdown
& we are both running 100 consecutive days to raise money for @ArchBenSoc - with 50% of the money I raise also going to @bmm_uk. If you can donate we would be chuffed as anything https://t.co/q1p8TObgMD
MatriArrch and @O_P_E_R_A of @StudioPolpo collaborated on a bid for @EastStreetArts Art Hostel. We weren’t selected to go forward with the design, but we really enjoyed questioning what a dorm room for a feminist city might look like.
Technologies can be embraced - yes. But we must simultaneously tackle an often unsafe (physically/mentally) and 'macho' working environment that often works to exclude women and minorities.
It is also necessary to reinforce that women's representation within the construction sector can only be achieved in tandem with vital changes made to the culture of the industry.
It offers a perspective on how some building technologies might be embraced to address the massive discrepancy between the employment of women and men in the construction sector. It is a shortened - and adjusted - version of the dissertation I completed last year @SSoA_news
What incompetence. What failure of governance. Boris Johnson can't blame Theresa May, he can't blame John Major, he can't blame judges, he can't blame civil servants, he can't sack the Cabinet Secretary again. There's only one person responsible - him. Me in the Commons today:
Sheffield School of Architecture (SSoA) students, alumni, staff, and anyone in support of change within the architectural education system - please follow @femschoolofarch on instagram and read ‘Anti Racism at SSoA: A Call to Action’
We want to remind you of the direct financial support we can offer through grants as well as our work with @stepchangecharity who can provide expert debt advice. Check out our website for more information https://t.co/P3hf3NMsoZ
If you're an architectural practitioner @ArchBenSoc may be able to provide you with mental health support - & a whole lot more. If you think you need additional suport, I urge you to look into the amazing work the charity does.
So, I wrote a brief piece about my anxiety, how @ArchBenSoc was integral in getting the support I needed, and how access to mental health provision was necessary in helping me to weather the storm that was completing a degree during a pandemic (ew). https://t.co/s5HTYBKmFm
@ArchBenSoc are hosting ArchiTest, a virtual quiz, to raise COVID Emergency funds for the charity, supporting the bloomin' phenomenal work ABS do for practitioners and students within the sector! Next Thursday 30th, get a team together now: https://t.co/NmZa8JDXFF
If you are a Black student, of any gender, we would like to share your work on our Instagram platform to gain traction for brilliant emerging talent (all credit given to the creator).
As graduates of bachelors and masters of Architecture students begin the competitive job hunt (made harder by the consequences of COVID-19), I'd like to implore practices to AGAIN not use these students as cheap labour, that can be exploited by your practice.
If your practice is reliant on unpaid overtime and an excessive work culture, your business model is not appropriate, and typically has the most detrimental impact on women and BAME individuals within the profession.
