🚨Sergio Ramos on Lo Celso’s sensational goal for Real Betis being disallowed for a handball by Juan Hernández against Barcelona:

🗣️ Sergio Ramos: “I’ve seen robbery in football before, but this is a discovery. You will say it was a handball, others will say it was a sensational goal. But let me take you back to where the referee went back to.

“He went back 1 minute and 15 seconds before the goal to find a handball. One minute and fifteen seconds! The attack had developed, the finish was incredible, and the players were celebrating before someone decided to look back that far to cancel it.

“I have no problem with a referee blowing for handball. My problem is the timing. Why wasn’t the game stopped when it happened? Why wait 75 seconds, allow the attack to continue, and only then decide that an incident from earlier should cancel the goal?

“VAR was supposed to correct clear mistakes, not make every goal feel like it needs a criminal investigation. Lo Celso scored a sensational goal, and instead of discussing his technique and the quality of the finish, we are arguing about something that happened more than a minute earlier.

“Betis will feel hard done by, and I understand why. Imagine scoring a goal like that only to have it taken away after celebrating. And when you see Real Madrid complain about Barcelona and refereeing decisions, people say we are making excuses. But situations like this are exactly why these questions keep coming up.

“I’m not saying Barcelona should be blamed for the referee’s decision. I’m asking for consistency and common sense. If this decision was correct, explain it properly. Because if we keep taking moments like this away from football, one day we will look back and realise we have taken the magic out of the game.”
