Werner Herzog says he wrote the screenplay for his new film Bucking Fastard in just five days.

“I never spent more than a week writing a screenplay. The screenplay for the film I shot here, Bucking Fastard, was written in 5 days.”

He added that his wife was his witness.

Herzog also has a strict NO STORYBOARDS and NO VIDEO VILLAGE rule.

“Storyboards are for cowards,” he told the Directors Guild, “for those who lack imagination.”

He has never allowed a video village on his sets and says he has never once done a reshoot.

“It is not even in my dictionary.”

And Herzog does NOT discuss motivation with his actors.

“I do not like to have long conversations with actors about motivation and what their childhood traumas might have been.”

He calls it “Actors Studio nonsense.”

And if a scene fails five times? He rewrites the dialogue on the spot in about twenty seconds.
