Finally, on April 30, 1937, Filipino women were granted the right to vote after 447,725 women, or 91 percent of all eligible voters, voted in favor of granting women the right to vote.
During the Commonwealth period, the 1935 Constitution stipulated that suffrage be extended to Filipino women. The Woman's Suffrage Bill required a plebiscite and stated that women's suffrage would be granted if "not less than three hundred thousand women" voted in favor.
