Sphagnum mosses are not only beautiful, but they are powerful and clever for their size. They are the world's most efficient sponges, can thwart microbial decomposition, and hijack whole-ecosystem #nitrogen budgets. These mosses are true #climate heroes.

I love bogs for a million reasons. Meet Sphagnum, the beautiful peat mosses. Did you know they are killers? They fling acid/protons into their environment, making life difficult for other plants. This slows decay, stores carbon, and turns bogs into archives and storytellers.
