Hi!
Emergency Physician here.
I live in a similar multi-apartment gated society with a population of close to 2000 people. I too get calls like this.
The last call was a patient who was unconscious. Turns out his sugar was low. They had the machine in their house.
What was I able to do?
Check the sugar with their machine, then call the ambulance to take him to the hospital to get the treatment which is sugar infusion.
So you tell me...
Did I provide any sort of meaningful care or did that patient lose precious time in his family contacting me, me going from my tower to his, confirming WITH HIS OWN MACHINE that his sugar was low and then calling the ambulance standing in his bedroom?
I totally agree with the doctor on this point. Our off time is our off time and we can't really do much anyways so stop wasting time and delaying treatment is the right call.
And yes my privacy inside the privacy of my own home is precious just like it is to you and everyone else.
And one last thing which everyone missed here. The consumer protection forum now covers healthcare so thanks to that the delay in treatment I mentioned can hold me liable.
Yet another reason why I support the doctor. Better to not be involved to prevent being sued. Else remove healthcare from consumer protection forum. You can't have it both ways.
that one restaurant in the corner of the street that served me egg and pineapple on a pizza back in 2018 and it was THE BEST one I have ever had. I miss you
