When I was in college a doctor came and spoke to us on World Aids Day. She said that in her 30 year career one thing she had seen was that when women find out they have HIV, they prepare for the future of the family etc. When men get HIV they find ways to infect other women because they are vindictive.
Me: I am just feeling really sad today, I’m not sure why.
My bf: *sniffs my head* You’re about to start your period, that’s why.
Me: I’m six days away from my period, what do you mean???
My bf: Your head smells like toast whenever you’re on your period, you’re going to start early.
Me: Excuse me???
(He was unfortunately correct😭)
I really believe real men stopped getting made after the 90s, I just dropped my kid off at school and my daddy on my phone asking if it’s cool for him to come mop my floors..it’s 9:30 am boo
“There is not a single man on Earth who believes ‘not all men’.
Because if you really believed it, you would let your homies date your sisters. You don't. Becuase you know.
You would let your daughters go to sleep overs in other men's houses even if those mens wives were not around. You don't. Because you know.
You would have at least three men on call that you could have babysit your daughters the way women have at least three women on call that they can leave their children of either sex with. You don't. Because you know.
You would not give your daughters such tight curfews while giving your boys relatively unlimited freedom. You do.
Because you know.
You wouldn't care what your female relatives wear outside.
You do. Because you know.
You would let your wife host your homies when you're out of town. You don't. Because you know.
Your wives wouldn't feel anxious about giving you daughters. And you would feel equal joy at the arrival of a daughter as you do at the arrival of a son. You don't. You feel terror. Because you know.”

On the night of August 8th, a 31-year-old female doctor diligently completed her duty, as she had done countless times before. After finishing her shift, she shared a quiet meal with her juniors at 2 AM. Exhausted from the long hours, she sought a moment of rest. With no designated room provided for doctors, she settled down to sleep in the seminar room, a makeshift refuge for those who work tirelessly through the night. Little did she know, this would be the last time she closed her eyes with a sense of routine comfort.
listening to that story of that firefighter admitting he would ignore the screams of black ppl in burning places up until one time he went into one to PRETEND to save a baby and didn't and made eye contact with it as it died and that's when he decided to stop has ruined me
In the first episode of the Handmaid’s Tale the government “suspended” the constitution and then cut off all women from being able to access their bank accounts immediately. I remember watching it and thinking this is ridiculous it could never happen here. Now I’m not so sure.
I always sound like a conspiracy theorist when I say this but things are not built how they used to be, i.e., made to last, made to be functional, etc., because of capitalism.
